‘Good morning, everyone!’ Oliver Ormson starts our days right with his new lockdown series.
In isolation, we have all been seeking an escape from reality, and Oliver Ormson provides just that with a crossover series he has created with girlfriend Carrie Hope Fletcher. Good Morning, World! was introduced as the decisions to suspend theatres occurred. But the show must go on and Oliver and Carrie have been keeping us all entertained through quarantine, so we wanted to share our favourite videos from the series so far.
So grab a cup of coffee, put your Oodie on, and let the show commence.
The one that started it all
We couldn’t begin our list without mentioning the first video of the series now, could we?
In the initial instalment, we see Oliver and Carrie fresh-faced out of bed (literally) and providing an insight into the impact of the pandemic from an actor perspective. As well as this the couple discussed their future plans, TV shows and the “weird dream” Carrie had the night before (Cinderella falling pregnant would be an interesting concept to say the very least).
It could only have been a ‘matter of time’ before theatres had to face the decisions of closure, but we only hope that we can see curtains rise again soon.
The one with the funny little conversation
We all know Oliver for ‘slipping’ ambitious jokes and puns into conversation, and we low key love him for it. In this video we see the pair with coffee in hand, incorporating superheroes in musicals, discussing the launch of Disney Plus and genius movie concepts. Who knew a sofa would be a fantastic mode of transport?
A one-women show of Les Miserables, featuring Oliver as Superman? Let us know when the JustGiving page is published.
The one where they get oodies
Oodie! Oodie! Oodie!, Oi Oi Oi! Who else is eager to get their hands on one?
In their 20th video (the big 2-0!), the pair talk about their newest purchase, birthday plans and the processes of book writing! It is amazing what conversations arise in this series, and we never want it to end.
We’re also highly envious on Zoe Sugg’s 90s themed party where S Club 7 performed, so you’re not alone, Oliver.
The one where they talk ‘filmed musicals’
As much as we might like our own recordings of theatre productions, we need to ‘turn it off’ and enjoy the show.
We love seeing how supportive Oliver is to Carrie’s endeavours, so when Les Miserables: The Staged Concert was officially released (starring Carrie as Fantine) he couldn’t praise her enough. But the conversation then led to the acts of ‘bootlegging’ productions, and if you are unaware of bootlegs, in the stagey world it’s a bit of a taboo. We see Carrie and Oliver share their views on this act but it’s supported with hilarity when Oliver shares stories from ‘recorded’ performances.
(You’ll want to stay to the very end of the video. You won’t regret it).
The one where they share their proudest moments
Imagine getting a phone call to say ‘Can you make your way in to central to make a West End debut in an hour?’.
We all have dear memories of events that we hold close to us, and it warmed our hearts to see Oliver and Carrie reminisce and reflect on their proudest achievements on – and off- the stage. Luckily for us we get to relive some of these moments though vlogs and look back at their successes through the years. They are proud of each other, and in turn, we are proud of them.
The one where they time travel
Would you go back in time, or back to the future? A cliche question, but we like it too, Oliver!
We were all intrigued when Oliver prompted the topic, and it was great getting to hear both sides of the conversation. Which one would you chose, seeing West End shows for a week in the early 50’s or travel to 500 years from now? We’re twiddling our thumbs with this one, but one thing we know for sure is to avoid talking about The Butterfly Effect with Oliver.
The one where they applaud teachers
Gold stars all-round for key workers!
Particularly now, we all want to show our appreciation for educators and the educations we receive. Oliver (in stylish attire, may we add!) started the conversation asking Carrie if there were any teachers who inspired her and we loved taking a trip down memory lane hearing about their school stories. One of our favourites has to be Sarah Graham’s encouragement of Oliver working in the arts! Supportive teachers earn house points for sure.
The one where it gets spooky
Turn off the lights, grab a blanket and find a torch (or your device screen will do).
Oliver loves to find conversational ideas and topics for GMW and in a recent video, the duo dispute their thoughts on ghosts, spirits and everything in between. You are guaranteed goosebumps hearing about phantoms of theatre, mediums and their own paranormal experiences.
(We were going to call Ghostbusters due to Oliver’s Ghosites joke, but we’ll let that one slide for now).
So there we have it…
We have loved watching Oliver and Carrie be “unfiltered” in this exclusive series so far, which is most certainly lifting our spirits during this difficult time. Whether they’re reminiscing over past jobs, reviewing the latest film in their Marvel marathon or discussing their weirdest dreams, we are guaranteed positive thoughts first thing in the morning with these two stagey sweethearts.
In the words of Oliver Ormson, “Stay safe out there, and don’t *insert random instruction here or burst in to song*.”
