YouTube Originals series have received five nominations for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards.
The annual awards show is set to occur on 26 June, with a two-hour special airing on CBS for major category winners. Winners in other categories will be revealed this coming July.

This year’s nominees saw contenders from not just mainstream television, but also streaming platforms and video websites, including YouTube, whose original series received five nominations.
Two of its series were nominated for Outstanding Educational or Informational Series. The first was Jake Roper‘s Could You Survive the Movies?, which feature Jake discussing the science behind popular films and ascertaining if humans could actually survive their plots. The second was Glad You Asked, a series by Vox, which examines the most searched queries on YouTube.
Marques Brownlee‘s Retro Tech was nominated for Outstanding Special Class Series. The show features Marques unboxing and reviewing old-school tech products that helped define pop culture over the years.
Mind Field: What Is The Scariest Thing? was nominated for Outstanding Writing For A Special Class Special. The one-off episode of Michael Stevens‘ Mind Field series looked at things that scare us and if it’s possible to define what the scariest thing of all is.
WOWPresents was nominated for Outstanding Directly Special Class for its documentary, Stonewall OutLoud, based on StoryCorps founder Dave Isay. It features original audio recordings from the Stonewall Riots, paired with contemporary voices from within the LGBTQ+ community.
