Episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience will soon be exclusively uploaded to Spotify.
Spotify has announced it’s signed a multi-year licensing deal with Joe Rogan, meaning it will become the sole host of the comedian’s popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Writing in a blogpost, Spotify said:
“Bringing the JRE to Spotify will mean that the platform’s more than 286 million active users will have access to one of culture’s leading voices. By partnering with Spotify, Rogan and his team will enjoy the support of the world’s leading audio platform.”
While the terms of the deal have not been publicly released, it has been shared that the podcast will debut on Spotify on 1 September. From there, both Spotify and Rogan plan for it to be exclusively available on the music streaming platform by the end of the year.
Rogan shares that he’ll retain full creative control of the podcast and that he’ll continue to create it with the same crew.
Up until now, The Joe Rogan Experience was not available to Spotify users, but was available in video format on YouTube and in audio-only versions on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and other podcast services.
With the new deal in place, all corresponding video versions of the podcast – known as vodcasts – will be exclusively available through Spotify, meaning only clips will be uploaded to Rogan’s YouTube channel as of 1 September.
As with the rest of the podcasts available on Spotify, The Joe Rogan Experience will be free to listen to. All that is required is a Spotify account.
