The deal will see Buffer Festival expanding its programming for this year’s event.
Buffer Festival made the announcement regarding the deal with FAN EXPO Canada on 21 April. FAN EXPO Canada is an annual convention similar to San Diego Comic-Con, which sees appearances from comic book artists, voice actors and a host of celebrities.
Sharing in a statement, Buffer Festival said that the event overall will stay the same amidst the deal, but that there will also be additional programming that will occur throughout the duration of the festival:
“Buffer Festival itself will remain the same, this partnership allows Buffer Festival the opportunity to provide some additional programming we have always wanted to. Inside FAN EXPO, Buffer Festival will be setting up 10,000 square feet of Creator awesomeness, including: Creator talks, inspiring Keynotes, Merchandise, live performances, podcasts, and a host of other special events and experiential activities.”

As it stands, the event is scheduled to occur from 27 to 30 August at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto, Canada. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, organisers have shared that contingencies are in place, should adjustments need to occur.
Along with the additional programming, the festival will still feature six screenings – animation, comedy, music, short film and two different documentary screenings – as well as red carpets and the annual Awards Gala.
Amongst the creators set to attend are Sammy Paul, Tom Scott, Tom Ridgewell and Canadian vlogger Elle Mills.
Tickets are set to go on sale in the near future.
