YouTube accelerated the release of the new tool due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Video Builder is geared toward businesses who don’t have access to the resources needed to produce videos advertising their services.
Currently in beta, the new tool allows business owners to create customisable videos to better promote themselves, with access to YouTube‘s music library, various layouts, and a host of colours and fonts. It will also allow for the animation of typically static assets, such as images, logos and text.
The ads created though Video Builder can be of two lengths: six seconds or 15 seconds.
YouTube made the announcement regarding the new tool in a recent blog post, sharing that Video Builder is available to all businesses for free:
“Because businesses of all sizes are strapped for time and resources and in-person video shoots are no longer practical in many countries, we are accelerating the next stage of Video Builder availability.”
Given the tool is available for all businesses to utilise, it can be used in different ways. YouTube shares that “a restaurant may want to communicate changing hours or promotions, while a supermarket may highlight new services like curbside pickup”.
To ensure Video Builder is easy to use, the site has created a guide that is available in both video and text form.
Those wishing to access the new tool must first fill out the request form. YouTube shares that it will be processing requests soon and that those who have been granted access will be notified via email.
