While we enjoy spending time within the four walls of our home, we asked creators how they are keeping themselves entertained and why you should stay at home. Molly from Beauty Spectrum chats to us…
How are you spending your time while social distancing?
Molly: I’ve tried to create a bit of a routine so that I don’t end up spending half the day in bed! I get up and do some kind of exercise, a home workout or a walk, and then luckily I’m able to work from home pretty much as normal as my job is social media so I spend the afternoon editing or filming in some way. I’m also watching a lot of Disney Plus, that’s definitely been a favourite since all of this started.
What is your go-to activity when you need to switch off from the world?
Molly: It varies really but reading or playing The Sims have been good ones, they’re easy activities that pass the time and are a great distraction. They’re also things that often I don’t have time to do in regular day-to-day life so it’s quite nice to spend a bit more time just chilling out.
Do you have any tips for staying positive and healthy at home?
Molly: Definitely working out everyday! Even if it’s only for 20 minutes. I’ve been doing the Joe Wicks workouts every morning, and I know they’re aimed at children but they are a great way to start the day. They make me feel more awake and give me something to get up for, so if you’re not doing those I definitely recommend.
As for staying healthy, trust me I’m usually the one reaching for the snacks, but I’m trying really hard to not eat rubbish, because that does effect your mood! (Aside from the occasional easter egg, because that doesn’t count)
I keep getting this overwhelming urge to buy stuff I absolutely don’t need purely because I have nothing else to do and it’s A PROBLEM

Can you recommend something we can do to relax at home?
Molly: Disney+ if you’re a Disney lover and you don’t already have it. I’ve also been loving Chris and Rosie Ramsey’s podcast Shagged, Married, Annoyed, I’ve been listening to that every day while I go out for a walk. It’s a great way to just clear my head for an hour while I’m getting some fresh air, it’s also absolutely hilarious so it’s a great mood booster!
Why is it so important to follow the government guidance?
Molly: I honestly can’t stress to people enough how serious this is, and the straight forward instructions, just stay at home! The more of us that do it and the less people there are going out, socialising, making unnecessary trips to the shops, the quicker this will be over.
I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say how much of an amazing job the NHS are doing for our country at the minute, and staying inside is so important in helping them out, so just stay at home guys, watch a movie, download TikTok, stick to one form of exercise and don’t meet up with friends. You’ve got this!
What advice would you give to anyone who might be struggling at the moment?
Molly: This is a tricky one because I’ve really not found this easy so I totally get why people might be struggling. This is effecting everyone in one way or another. My advice would be find something you can do each day that takes your mind off the outside world. Don’t spend 24 hours watching the news, try and focus on an activity everyday that helps keep your mind elsewhere. Arts and crafts is a great one. Music, exercise, baking, even just a film, you name it! Just something that’s a good distraction.
What content of yours can people enjoy during this time?
Molly: I’ve just finished uploading a series of travel vlogs from my time I spent backpacking in Australia from the very beginning of the year before all of this began. If I say so myself, they are probably some of the best videos I’ve ever uploaded. I just had the best time travelling and those videos are really uplifting, feel good, and if you want to escape to somewhere a bit more fun and a bit warmer, those videos are definitely that.
