Who doesn’t love a good cover?
For years, Samantha Harvey has been gracing our sub boxes with brilliant covers, as well as her own original songs. To say the girl is talented would be an understatement, and her voice has the ability to stop us right in our tracks. We’re always eagerly anticipating which song she’ll cover next, which is why we thought it was time to share a few of our favourite videos with you all.
Here they are, our eight favourite Samantha Harvey covers!
Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry
A brilliant cover as always, even if attempts to cover the full song were foiled. Featuring her niece, Phoebe, and her nephew, Harry, a multitude of attempts to cover this Demi Lovato classic are interrupted by the mischievous pair. We love the impromptu performance of Mama by the trio and the wonderfully chaotic energy this video exudes.
In the words of Harry, “Again, again!”
Beyoncé – Irreplaceable
Those pigtails, though!
While Irreplaceable is known as an eternally difficult song to sing, Sam manages to nails every word, making this a straightforward and lovely cover that we can’t help coming back to. Everybody who has had a breakup can relate to Beyoncé’s lyrics, and with this delivery you will definitely be singing along.
Ariana Grande – thank u, next
We all love Ariana Grande’s thank u, next, but in amongst the many covers of it on YouTube, this one stands out. We’ll defintely take the hand gesture for “next” to our next night out, and we love the post-song chat with Harry, who really couldn’t care less about Ariana. (But still thinks you should subscribe!)
Luther Vandross – Dance With My Father
Is there a more heartfelt Father’s Day cover? It’s okay if you shed a tear while watching this video, because we did. Sung beautifully, this classic by Luther Vandross tugs on our heartstrings and reminds us of how much we love our dads and those in our lives who we see as father figures.
If you’ve been putting off ringing your dad, this will definitely give you the push.
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
Let’s waste time… Listening to this cover.
It’s not really time wasted, though, is it? Another heartfelt cover of what we deem to be a modern day classic, we only wish it hadn’t been cut off so soon. We honestly just want to hear the end! A future re-upload maybe, Sam?
Oasis – Wonderwall
Need we say more? We all love a good Wonderwall cover, even if we claim otherwise, so you can bet we clicked on this video the minute we saw it pop up in our sub box. There are many things we’d like to say to you too, Sam, such as can we please have the entire song?
Dua Lipa – New Rules
New Rules was the song of summer 2017 (honestly, it was, and still is, a jam!) and we love this cover of it. Sam’s comeback video after a chaotic few weeks that saw everything from a breakup and a car crash, to her releasing her debut single, perhaps that’s why we feel every emotion in this video. A slowed down version of the song allows us to feel them even more.
Justin Bieber – Sorry
Has it really been four years since Sorry was all we heard? The radio, the supermarket, in our friend’s car, no matter where we went we just couldn’t escape it! It feels like just yesterday…
This cover makes us feel more than just the need to start dancing, and lets us properly listen to the lyrics, instead of screaming them over the music in the nightclub.
So there you have it…
Our eight favourite Samantha Harvey covers. With so many to choose from and with her uploading new videos on the reg, we may have to write another article like this in the not-so-distant future! But, really, would that be a bad thing? (Answer: Absolutely not!)
