Liv Cooke is a female football player who shares her freestyle skills on TikTok. TenEighty recently caught up with her to chat about the platform and the influence she and other creators have on those watching their content.
TenEighty: What was the first TikTok video you ever watched?
Liv: It was a Jacob Sartorius video, I think. His voice is superb!
T: Why did you decide to start sharing your football skills on TikTok?
L: I found out about TikTok online and saw that it was a growing platform, and I am always looking for new and innovative ways to speak to my fans, so I made an account and began posting videos. I’ve been loving it since then.
T: What advice can you give to those who want to make a name for themselves on TikTok?
L: Be consistent. Viewers and followers don’t come overnight. Do something you enjoy and love, and keep posting!
T: What is the best thing to come out of you starting your TikTok account?
L: Being able to interact with people from all around the world, different nationalities, different cultures and different languages.
T: What do you hope young girls take from watching your videos?
L: I hope that they are able to be confident within themselves. There is obviously a lot of pressure from people on social media sites around the world and that can affect them and their mental health, but I want them to be confident in themselves and just have fun! Sometimes people forget to just have fun.
T: What’s one thing you would say to our readers who wish to get started on TikTok, but aren’t sure what direction to take?
L: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Whatever it is, do that, whether that is football tricks, lip-syncing, [making] clothes, giving out fashion tips or singing.
T: What’s the best/funniest TikTok video you’ve seen as of late?
L: I like some of the new videos that Lisa and Lena [Mantler] have begun posting. They are cool.
T: Do you have anything to say to young girls who wish to get started in sport?
L: Find a local youth club or sports centre and sign up. Sport has changed my life. I love it and I don’t know what I would be doing without [it]. Women’s sport is booming at the moment and the more women that play, the better. So get involved!

Never play football again or never upload to TikTok again?
L: Never play football again.
An evening out with friends or a cozy night in?
L: Evening out!
Only be able to wear your football uniform or only be able to wear the outfit you’re wearing in your last video?
L: I was in an 11 Degrees top in my last video, so I would be in that for life.
Have unlimited knowledge or unlimited money?
L: Unlimited knowledge. Knowledge is power!
