The biggest awards show of the season has come and gone.
Each year, many of Hollywood’s finest converge on Los Angeles for the Oscars, which is seen by many as the biggest accolade someone within the film community can achieve. Those who win and are nominated are in a league all their own and showcase the finest of acting, editing, sound and much, much more. As such, the show is a pretty big deal and many across the world tune in to see who will take home an award.
Our favourite YouTubers tend be be fans of film, so you can bet many of them watched the show, staying up into the wee hours of the morning to see if their picks were correct. Many of them took to Twitter to share their thoughts, so we thought we’d round up everything they had to say. (Just like last year.)
How to write a good Oscars speech
I feel like the real Academy Award winners are the friends we made along the way.
— Elliot Gough (@ElliotExplicit) February 24, 2019
If anyone needs helping writing their Oscars speech, we highly suggest speaking with Elliot Gough.
So many awkward silences
The show would be shorter without the awkward silences. #Oscars

Would it really be an awards show without the incredibly awkward silences, Paul Neafcy?
Best Film Editing… Really?
Bohemian Rhapsody is a fun film – But it's not really an Oscar winner. ESPECIALLY for Sound Mixing and Visual Editing.
It's visual editing was serviceable, and First Man's sound mixing blows Bohemian Rhapsody out the fucking window.
— Matt Collins (@Mattophobia) February 25, 2019
We have to agree with Matt Collins. While we definitely feel Bohemian Rhapsody is a good film, we highly question how it could have possibly won for Best Film Editing. There were numerous times where we found ourselves wondering if we were watching a biopic or an action film because of the way in which it was edited.
What a performance
I have nothing new to add to the conversation I just wanted you all to look at this again… #Oscars pic.twitter.com/dIN9bgZYeK

Was anyone else floored by just how beautiful Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s performance was?
All we care about is Olivia Colman’s win
Very cool to see Olivia Colman win best actress oscar after having seen her career develop from TV sitcoms and sketch shows thru British indie films and now the highest accolade in Hollywood! pic.twitter.com/c2GY5zP7aO

OLIVIA COLMAN MAKES ME BELIEEEEEEVE #Oscars
— Daniel J. Layton (@DanielJLayton) February 25, 2019
As we said in our BAFTA Film Awards article, Olivia Colman is a national treasure and we will forever sing her praises whenever she wins an award. She’s doing the UK proud!
How many award should it have won?
Rami deserved an Oscar. That should have been it for Bo Rhap. The fact that it won so many is laughable.
The fact that Black Panther won best score has me buzzing though, I've been a big fan of that score since it came out. Ludwig earned that win. https://t.co/KYv5tR6AM1— Simon Clark (@simonoxfphys) February 25, 2019
We’re in agreement with Simon Clark that Rami Malek deserved his award for Best Actor, but we’re still confused as to how Bohemian Rhapsody won so many. We’re also in agreement that Black Panther deserved its win for Best Score. We mean, have you listened to it? It’s gorgeous!
Yessss, Spider-Verse
Waking up to hear #SpiderVerse won A BLOODY OSCAR is the best news ever! So deserved, haven't loved a film quite like this one for a long time 💙🏆 #Oscars pic.twitter.com/fhRBcC78Vj

As promised, this is the only bit of Oscars news I was hoping to wake up to. Jolly good. https://t.co/HuJYcdL3QY

We weren’t the only ones stoked to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse take home the award for Best Animated Feature. If you have yet to see it, we suggest you rectify that by either heading to the cinema or getting a digital copy of it. We promise it’ll be the best thing you do (and watch) all day.
This was the deciding factor
I feel like this was what swung it for the Academy 😎 https://t.co/GsQuffGJMB

We’re sure this drawing definitely swayed the votes, Matt Ley.
