The glitz, the glam… It must be the BAFTA Film Awards.
Each and every year, the BAFTAs shine a spotlight on the best the UK film and television scenes have to offer. Not to toot our own horn, but we think us Brits have created and released some of the best movies and TV shows around, and, as such, we’re glad to have an awards show like the BAFTAs that’s able to celebrate all this country and those within in its entertainment industry have to offer.
This year’s awards show occurred on 10 February and not only were our faves glued to their television screens, taking in each moment, some were actually there in person, rubbing shoulders with the night’s nominees! We’re not going to lie, we were pretty jealous, but we’re glad everyone was sharing the excitement on Twitter. Since they were kind enough to tweet about it, we thought we’d round everything up, in case you happened to miss anything.
All glammed up
Very excited to be going to the @BAFTA’s tonight with @AudiUK #EEBAFTAs pic.twitter.com/NjBtEqHbwX

— SARAH CLOSE (@Sazclose) February 10, 2019
As we mentioned above, many of our faves were able to attend this year BAFTAs, including Sarah Close and Caspar Lee. We’re not going to lie, we found ourselves swooning over how great they looked!
That’s our girl!
Oh hello @niomismart 😍 @BAFTA pic.twitter.com/uyCbPISuP7
— Gleam Futures (@TeamGleam) February 11, 2019
Who else was excited to see Niomi Smart on their television screen, walking the carpet at the awards show? We pretty much fell out of our chairs!
So awkward…
That awkward silence though when the crowd stops clapping but the winner is still not near the podium #BAFTA
— Matt Amys (@mattamys) February 10, 2019
We couldn’t help but cringe slightly when this happened, Matt Amys. We don’t think there’s anything more awkward.
Sometimes acceptance speeches really get to us
Such a beautiful BAFTA acceptance speech from @letitiawright really needed to hear that today.
— Scola Dondo (@ScolaDondo) February 10, 2019
excuse me, just bawling my eyes out at Letitia Wright's acceptance speech at the BAFTAS
— Connie Glynn (@connieglynn) February 10, 2019
We can pretty much guarantee Scola Dondo and Connie Glynn weren’t the only ones hit by how powerful and beautiful Letitia Wright’s acceptance speech was on Sunday night.
EVERYONE loved Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse
Well done on your BAFTA big man (yes he's still here) #IntoTheSpiderVerse pic.twitter.com/wUylFVbgYq
— Jake (@10000Hawks) February 11, 2019
We’re not going to lie, we were left giggling after reading this tweet, Jake Pemberton.
When we said everyone, we meant it.
I’d like to thank @philiplord & @chrizmillr for letting me hold their BAFTA. @JackHoward for taking this photo of me holding their BAFTA. Thank you @BAFTA, for giving these guys a BAFTA. And finally I’d like to thank Spider-Man, without whom they wouldn’t have a BAFTA.#EEBAFTAs pic.twitter.com/31H5X1CRvX
— Hazel Hayes (@TheHazelHayes) February 11, 2019
What an absolutely beautiful acceptance speech, Hazel Hayes. It’s good practice for when you win your own BAFTA, which is 100% going to happen one day. (Just remember us when you’re a big-time, award-winning director.)
He’s right
OLIVIA COLMAN IS LORD #BAFTAs
— Jacob Trueman (@TheJacobTrueman) February 10, 2019
Olivia Colman is a national treasure and we’re glad Jacob Trueman agrees.
Roma is pretty damn good
Beyond thrilled about the BAFTA wins for @alfonsocuaron and everyone who worked on @ROMACuaron. Cannot encourage you enough to see it on the big screen if you can.
— rosianna, a plain but ambitious girl (@RosiannaRojas) February 10, 2019
So happy to see The Favourite and Roma completely sweep at @BAFTA. Totally deserved on all fronts.
— Sammy Paul (@ICOEPR) February 10, 2019
We’re glad to see Sammy Paul and Rosianna Halse Rojas have as much an appreciation for Roma as we do. Its wins on Sunday were definitely deserved!
Oh, boy…
Trying to make Mac & Cheese to enjoy @BAFTA with…forgot the cheese. It’s just Mac. #EEBAFTAs
— Joe Tasker (@JoeTasker) February 10, 2019
Why are we not even surprised, Joe Tasker…
No one can escape The Avengers
SHE’S WEARING THE INFINITY STONES.
HELA CONFIRMED. #BAFTAs pic.twitter.com/ieO3M0ba7B
— Daniel J. Layton (@DanielJLayton) February 10, 2019
We think Daniel J. Layton is right. Hella has definitely been confirmed. Just look at that necklace!
So there you have it…
How our faves reacted to Sunday night’s BAFTA Awards. We’re glad to see they enjoy a good awards show just as much as we do, and we hope to one day see them being recognised for their work in the same fashion. Given the amount of talent they have, we know they’ll one day receive BAFTAs of their own!
