Valentine’s Day is on the horizon.
The shops are stocked with chocolates, hearts and flowers (especially roses), only to remind us of how alone we truly are. However, instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, we’re going to fill the holes in our hearts with our favourite YouTube videos! We think that’s a pretty good way to spend the day, with the creators we love most in the world.
On with the Round-Up!
BEARD (feat. Crabstickz) | TomSka
Tom Ridgewell is back with yet another weird and wonderful sketch, featuring everyone’s favourite, Chris Kendall. As per usual, the comedy sketch has its signature, fast-paced jokes and a subject matter that the normal brain couldn’t make as funny.
What do you think of Chris’ STD – satanically transmitted demon? Do you think it’s the best? We have our own thoughts, but we don’t want to influence your answer. We certainly know what Tom thinks of it, save the crazed laughter he partakes in at the end. (Is he somehow possessed?)
GEEKY VALENTINES (A ‘How To’ Guide) | Jake Dudman
“I don’t wanna go… out with anyone, but you.”
If you actually want to do something more than simply watch YouTube this Valentine’s Day – i.e. actually go out on a real date – then Jake Dudman has the video for you! Nerds and geeks alike who are looking for love should definitely try their hand at these pickup lines. There’s everything from Star Wars to Doctor Who, and they’re sure to make anyone swoon, including your crush!
Law School – My Week. | Eve Cornwell
We here at TenEighty HQ love weekly vlogs, for they allow us a sneak peek into the lives of our favourite YouTubers, so you can bet we were super excited when we saw this video from Eve Cornwell in our sub box!
From walking us along the streets of London to showing off her fabulous outfits, Eve brings us along on a journey through a week in her life. Combined with great editing that makes even the most mundane of things appear exciting, this videos is definitely one of our faves from the past week, and we hope she films more videos of this style in the future!
6 perfect books for Galentines Day | leena norms
If you’re like many and are ditching the romance of Valentine’s Day this year, instead opting for a day in which to celebrate friendship, then you need to watch this video.
Leena Normington is joined by fellow YouTuber Sanne Vliegenthart to share their favourite books featuring female friendships and feminist themes. The titles mentioned include Wicked by Gregory Maguire, The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve and Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams, and are all works that should be prominently featured on bookshelves everywhere. Perfect for a night in or a gift for your bestie!
How I ‘Cured’ My Depression | Luke Cutforth
This isn’t another phoney “You’re sad? Don’t be! Think happy thoughts and you’ll be happy” video. Instead, it’s a very personal vlog, where Luke Cutforth shares his experiences with depression, how he dealt with it in the past and the treatment he’s pursued.
One moment that stuck with us, in particular, is his mention of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment, which uses magnets to literally change different parts of the brain! It’s interesting stuff, and we’re noticing more and more people are opting to try it as a form of treatment in relation to mental health.
Want more? Of course, you do!
The True Geordie Podcast has had some incredible guests over the years and this past week was no different. The crew welcomed stand-up comedian and creator of The Office Ricky Gervais, on to the show, where they talked about what’s coming up next in his life.
Speaking of podcasts, Carrie Hope Fletcher announced she’s joining forces with fellow actress Celinde Schoenmaker to make their own, titled Wonder Women. It’s all about women; whether that’s discussing female relationships or women of the past, they’re here to celebrate them!
We all know a music fan who refuses to sacrifice their precious band tees. Helen Anderson is here to show us the different ways to style our favourite band t-shirts during the winter months, so we can keep repping the ones we jam out to on a regular basis!
There’s a new trend going around the internet, right now, and that is turning oneself into a Bratz doll. These dolls are known for their non-human like features, such as huge eyes and lips, so it’s always a guarantee these transformations aren’t going to go too well. The makeover Hannah of welcometoloserville attempted is no exception…
