Can our lives be directed by Jon Favreau?
This week saw the drop of the first trailer for the “live-action” version of The Lion King, breaking all sorts of viewing records in the process. Many box-office prognosticators think this film may make Disney richer than God. We at TenEighty think those people are probably right.
– The original LION KING was the fourth highest grossing film of all time in 1994.
– The 3D *rerelease* made $200m worldwide in 2011.
– The live-action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST made $1.2 billion.
– The new LION KING stars Beyoncé.
– The new LION KING is going to outgross everything.— Downtown Griffy Newmz (@GriffLightning) February 19, 2018
Disney’s 2019 slate of movies means they can truly start printing money: Captain Marvel, Dumbo, The Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story 4 and Avengers 4. What a lineup! Opening weekend? We’ll be there for all of them, especially to see Donald Glover as Simba. What a guy!
On with the Round-Up!

Harry Redknapp and Bobby Moore on the LASH! | Football Throwbacks | The Football Republic
Harry Redknapp is currently regaling the nation with countless stories while in the Australian jungle for I’m a Celebrity. To many, he is a top class football manager with a storied career that has him rubbing shoulders with legends of the game, including World Cup winning captain, Bobby Moore. Football was a different beast back in the day of black and white TV coverage, with less thought for health and nutrition.
This video by The Football Republic of one of the best defenders ever to play the game getting nice and drunk with no one batting an eyelid about it. Oh, the joys of yesteryear!
Our Experience Of Acting In Harry Potter | Mandeville Sisters
Before the Wizarding World’s version of a Star Wars prequel that is The Crimes of Grindelwald, there were the mainline eight Harry Potter films filled the hearts of millions with boundless joy. With hundreds upon hundreds of kids needed to be part of Hogwarts, it was inevitable that creators found themselves part of the whole thing. Both Grace and Amelia Mandeville were seen in different films after using a family connection to score a coveted spot.
This video is very interesting for any fans of either The Mandeville Sisters or Harry Potter to get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest film franchises of all time. Add the pair to the growing list of creators in Harry Potter, alongside Zoe Sugg, Grace Victory and, of course, Scorpius Malfoy himself, Bertie Gilbert.
TOP 5 FILMS BASED ON PLAYS | Imogendsc
Inspiration comes from all different places. Transformers is based on a line of toys. Pirates of the Caribbean is based on a theme park ride. Adaptation is based on a combination of a book about orchids and the concept of writer’s block itself. There are many films that have been adapted from a play to varying degrees of success. For every Glengarry Glen Ross, there is the animated version of The King and I.
Imogen de Ste Croix runs us through her personal top five, showing us a level of insight and knowledge that is wonderful to see. Regular readers will know the love we have for Lin-Manuel Miranda, so we’re hoping that the film version of In The Heights can make its way into the list when it comes out sometime soon.
Shower | Jack and Dean

Mr. DT is here to try and re-break English football fans’ hearts all over again, recreating Ronaldinho’s wonder goal that sent the team crashing out of the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. For all the fans that can bear to watch, this video shows just how hard it was to do in the first place and also just how far out it was. If you’re going to lose the chance to be the best in the world, what better way to do it, we guess?
Becci Tate is here to fight the good fight against the shameful lack of good, quality sexual education in British education, both now and in the past. This video talks about every person who has a vulva, with her bringing up the good point that vulvas and what is happening to them is the focus of a large percentage of sex education, for good or for bad. This is one of those videos that we should all watch!
