Fantastic Adventures with Dean and Bertie sees the duo turn their late-night conversations about all things sci-fi into podcast form.
The podcast has already featured guests such as YouTubers PJ Ligouri, dodie and Sammy Paul as well as actor Bill Milner, who starred in X-Men: First Class, and online and TV presenter Julia Hardy.
“Honestly, we’re open to anyone and everyone,” Bertie told TenEighty when asked if there were any particular guests he wanted on the podcast.
“One of the most fun aspects of the show is how broad each episode’s theme is. I think people enjoy hearing familiar voices discuss topics they’ve never heard them talk about before, dodie speaking about the ocean, for example.”

The focus of the podcast is on all things geek culture and sci-fi and for Bertie that love began with the Jimmy Neutron movie, “The idea that a bunch of kids could salvage fairground rides and turn them into spaceships to go off into space and rescue their parents really struck me.”
“We’re eager to do an episode about toxic fandoms,” Bertie explained to TenEighty when asked what topics he and Dean want to cover that they feel some other podcasts don’t. He continued, “As it feels like virtually every day, a new cherished, totally harmless entertainment property is turned sour by a section of people who feel a selfish ownership of said property.
“Movies aren’t allowed to just be movies anymore and it sucks!”
Currently the podcast is available on a number platforms but not Spotify, although the pair are working on that as well as possibly “evolving the format”.
Bertie explains, “A TV talk show or film discussion with narrative and possibly sitcom elements really appeal to us both.”
Finally, TenEighty asked if the podcast could be described in three words to which Bertie responded, “Chats. Films. Lynx Africa…let’s pretend Lynx Africa is one word!”
Fantastic Adventures with Dean and Bertie is available weekly on Acast.com, PlayerFM and Apple’s Podcasts.
