Can you get down like #DancingHermione?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or have somehow managed to avoid Twitter all week), then you’ve most likely seen the viral video of Hermione dancing at MCM Comic Con last weekend. But did you know that Hermione is actually YouTube’s own Kelsey Ellison?
Kelsey is a queen of cosplay, we all know that, but what we weren’t aware of was her dancing skills! The girl’s got some moves and everyone is taking notice – and we mean everyone. Throughout the week, the video of Kelsey dancing as Hermione has gone viral, spreading across Twitter and the internet, and the reaction has been huge! From fellow YouTubers to random Twitter users, everyone’s had something to say about the video, so we’ve decided to round up our favourites.
PS. Thank you, Connie Glynn, for catching this wonderful dance on video.
We NEED this now

You better release a video of this soon, Daniel J. Layton and dodie! We don’t think our lives will be complete until we’ve seen you both attempt a death drop.
Well wishes all around
i hope the dancing hermione girl is having a great day
— 🤴🏽 (@cxrIoss) May 29, 2018
We hope she’s having a great day too!
We love it all
The music, the cosplay, the wand-working, I love it all
— Thomas Sanders (@ThomasSanders) May 28, 2018
If US vlogger Thomas Sanders doesn’t make his own version of this then we’re rioting.
LOL, what’s focus?
Can you give us like some context about Dancing Hermione???? I want to know EVERYTHING
Ps. Blaming you for not being able to focus on anything else today ahah💖
— Antonio (@antoswish) May 29, 2018
We’ve been blasting the video around the office all week. Our productive may or may not have dropped drastically as a result…
Emma Watson needs to see it
I will never get over this @KelseyEllison it’s so damn good. And I need to know if @EmmaWatson has seen it yet
— Zoe London (@zoelondondj) May 30, 2018
We’re bummed Emma Watson has yet to see the video, Zoe London… We’d love see her reaction. Who knows, maybe she’d make her own version!
It’s inspired some amazing fan art

We can’t get over the fan art people are creating around the video. We wish we were this talented!
#GetKelseyOnEllen
Okay but I wanna see @KelseyEllison doing this on the @TheEllenShow Show so badly! xD
— Abipop 🐤🌷 アビーポップ (@abipop) May 28, 2018
Don’t tempt us to start a social media campaign to get Kelsey on The Ellen Show, Abipop. You know we’ll do it.
We second this
remake all of the h*rry p*tter films but every time someone casts a spell they have to vogue like viral dancing hermione
— Masc of the Red Death Drop🏴 (@pleonasthma) May 31, 2018
Who do we contact to make this happen?
Such hilarity
holy shit this is hilarious
— ♡♪!? (@SkyWilliams) May 28, 2018
US vlogger Sky Williams wasn’t the only one to find the video hilarious! The fact that Kelsey’s dancing is so far away from Hermione’s character is part of the reason the video’s gone so viral.
We aspire to be this magical
i aspire to be the sassy dancing hermione
— Daisy Clark (@daisyclarkmusic) May 30, 2018
Show of hands: who else aspires to be just as magical and sassy as Kelsey in this video?
We’re obsessed
I don’t know if it’s @KelseyEllison’s energetic dancing or the fact that she’s dressed up as Hermione but I’m obsessed with this video. So much witchy sass! 🤘🏻 ⚡️ 🦁 ✨ https://t.co/WhDC04TXLx
— The Luna Diaries (@thediaryofluna) May 28, 2018
The Luna Diaries isn’t the only one to have an obsession with this video, and just like her, we’re having trouble pinpointing our favourite thing about it. After much deliberation, we think it has to be the wand work – that’s talent, right there.
It’s life changing
That video of Hermione Granger dancing to house music has legitimately changed my life.
— Jared Michaels (@GergSays) May 30, 2018
Who knew a cosplay video could have such an impact on the world?!
Everyone was getting involved
Who knew they did it like this at #Hogwarts?!! Get it #DancingHermione! 💚@KelseyEllison #DanceBattle #Remix #NiceForWhat pic.twitter.com/LJH5l55QR0
— GloZell Green (@GloZell) May 30, 2018
Everyone, including US vlogger GloZell Green, were getting in on the action. One search of #DancingHermione on Twitter results in many videos of Kelsey dancing to a whole host of songs!
That’s definitely going viral
As soon as I saw @KelseyEllison 's dancing Hermione, I was like "oh yeah, that's definitely going viral". It's all over my feed lmao
— 🍑🌸Momo🌸🍑💕💕💕⛸ (@momo_delite) May 28, 2018
The minute we saw the video we knew it would hit peak viral status. We’re glad we aren’t the only ones to think so.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
her name… is Kelsey Ellison!!!!!!! https://t.co/jIJGw9dHFC
— beckii kind ✨ (@BeckiiCruel) May 29, 2018
Beckii Cruel wasn’t the only one excited over how viral the video went! We too were stoked to see how much attention Kelsey’s dance moves were getting.
Poor BB-8
There’s so much going on in this video:
-Hermione dancing
-Music is Super Mario remix
-Marvel Logo flashes on the screen
-Someone tries to grind on BB-8 and BB-8 wants NO part of it!!!What is HAPPENING https://t.co/gyXadSNfgJ
— c a p u c h i n o (@capuchinokappu) May 28, 2018
There was A LOT happening in the video, and we’re glad someone pointed out the person in the background grinding up on BB-8. We think we might be scarred for life…
And there’s a sequel…
Yes, you read correctly. Amidst all the hubbub, Kelsey has uploaded a sequel, featuring a full on death drop, which we need her to teach us ASAP! What did you think of the video? Are you unable to get it out of your head? Send us a tweet to @TenEightyUK and let us know!
