Oh, 2012. What a simpler time it was…
Remember those days? When Gangnam Style was taking over YouTube (and the world) and most of our fave creators were sporting an emo fringe? It was back when videos were far from the 4K quality they are now, and YouTube would actually allow you to see new videos in your sub box. See, we told you it was a simpler time.
Recently, the hashtag #2012vs2018 has been making the rounds on Twitter. Many users, including our faves, have been jumping on the bandwagon and sharing pictures of themselves from both 2012 and this year, and it’s been a journey. From mind-blowing glo-ups to hilarious past selfie attempts, the hashtag is everything we could ever want and more, which is why we had to share a few of our faves!
Let’s jump into it!

We don’t know why Evan Edinger decided to post a photo of Charlie McDonnell…

Look at the confidence radiating from Jake Edwards in the second and third photos – the glo-up is real!
The bathroom aesthetic
The only bad thing I have to say about 2012 me is my apparent love for monochrome#2012vs2018 pic.twitter.com/JOwh2tRBsY
— Sammy (@SammyAlbon) March 18, 2018
It appears Sammy Albon‘s aesthetic has become looking seriously into the camera while sitting on the edge of a bathtub.
Fashion glo-up

— Eilidh (@ThatArtyGirl) March 18, 2018
We have to say, while we loved Eilidh Gow‘s pink backpack and grey jumper combo, we are living for her current style! Eilidh, how do we dress as cool as you? Please, give us some tips!
They were just babies

— The RH Experience (@therhexperience) March 18, 2018
Aww, look how young The RH Experience looked back in 2012. It’s crazy to think how much the group have achieved in just six years – we can only imagine what the next six have in store!
So much humour

Who else is grateful for Laura Bubble‘s humour and laughs over the past few years?
The bathtub aesthetic

— ˗ˏˋ niki ˊˎ˗ (@NikiAlbon) March 18, 2018
Seriously, what is it with the Albon twins and their love of taking pictures in front of bathtubs? Niki Albon, we have so many questions!
Are these photos of the same person?
Well #2012vs2018 taught me I shouldn’t die my hair. Or half-pout. Ever. pic.twitter.com/uxWcEjuLJk
— Elisa Spigariol (@doyouknowellie) March 19, 2018
Holy moly, if we hadn’t known the top two pictures are of Elisa Spigariol, we never would have guessed! It’s amazing how much hair colour can change a person’s appearance!
Eternal youth
i look exactly the same so

Yes, yes, we get it, Dean Dobbs. You don’t age. No need to rub it in…
Does it get better tho?
#2012vs2018 It gets better guys 😊💖 pic.twitter.com/wLvWGqCVJL
— Chloe Dungate (@ScarfDemon) March 19, 2018
Umm… We don’t quite know how to say this, Chloe Dungate, but we think we much prefer how you looked in 2012, compared to your current appearance. Your blood-red eyes kind of give us nightmares.
Grown-ass woman
pr have been using the first photo on cheat sheets for the last six years 💀
let it die i’m a grown ass woman now (sorta) 💜 pic.twitter.com/njJkFqfQyK
— Leadley (@musicalbethan) March 19, 2018
Throughout her career on YouTube, Bethan Leadley has never been afraid to switch up her hairstyles (as evident in the pictures above) and we’re currently loving the pink she’s rocking! Also, can we talk about the eyebrow glo-up?
Slaaaaaaay, Bethan!
Breakfast of champions
The glo up's taking a while but here's a work-in-progress while we wait.#2012vs2018 pic.twitter.com/RLCuydV3cb

The question we want to ask you, Sam Saffold-Geri, is whether you managed to finish that massive breakfast in front of you in the first picture. It looks delicious!
RIP Cheeky

Gary C‘s contribution left us feeling a tad bit more emotional than we thought it would… RIP Cheeky, you are missed.
The glo-up is real!
It’s crazy to see how much our faves have grown up over the past six years. Seriously, it’s hard to believe they’re the same people! (But not really, because they were as fab then as they are now.) Want to see our glo-up? Well, we’d show you, but TenEighty didn’t exist in 2012… Guess you’ll have to wait for #2014vs2020 to start trending in a few years.
