Video game fans rejoice, Ready Player One is soon to be released!
One thing you might not know about us here at TenEighty HQ is that we’re massive video game fans. When we’re not busy writing up amazing YouTuber content, you can often find us in front of the TV, controller in hand, playing the latest game to hit the market. However, there’s one thing we have yet to try and that’s VR… Thankfully, we have Ready Player One to help us see what the experience is like.
On Monday night, the premiere of the book-to-film adaptation occurred in London and, of course, many of our faves were in attendance. Dressed up in their best clothes, they hit the blue carpet to mingle with the likes of Steven Spielberg and the film’s cast – seriously, we were totes jealous looking at our timeline all night. Since we couldn’t be there, we thought the next best thing would be to round up the night’s events, because that’s what we do best!
Let’s jump into it!
The excitement was building

#FOMO
I cancelled a throat scan for tongue biopsy. Hospital gave me wrong biopsy date. Can’t get throat scan appointment back. Now have neither. 🤦🏼♂️ Also cancelled seeing Ready Player One tonight for both these now non-existent appointments. TOM SMASH! pic.twitter.com/5905t9Tx4K

We’re sure Tom Fletcher wasn’t the only one feeling major FOMO over the premiere. We know we were!

If we go by this photo from Thomas Ridgewell, the premiere looked like a total party.
#Fanboy
I’m at the premiere for Ready Player One and…
I JUST SHOOK STEVEN SPIELBERG’S HAND!!
I can still feel the talent on my fingers.
— Jack Howard (@JackHoward) March 19, 2018
We feel Jack Howard was like a kid in a candy store at the Ready Player One premiere.
To be fair, we’d freak out too if we shook hands with Steven Spielberg!
Top quality photo
Took my best mate of 10+ years to the premiere of Spielberg’s Ready Player One tonight in the West End.
First time he’s ever done anything like this – I’m glad he will always have this photo to treasure and keep. He deserves it. Cheers for coming Westy. pic.twitter.com/mkjuVd5VgC— JaackMaate (@Jaack) March 19, 2018
Anyone else getting flashbacks to Monsters, Inc. with this photo of Jack Dean and his mate?

Stunning. Gorgeous. Amazing. There are many words we could describe how Carrie Hope Fletcher and Oliver Ormson looked at the premiere.
If only we looked this good on a blue carpet!

Alrighty! #ReadyPlayerOne review..
Awesome film, really fun!
Loads of Easter eggs!However.. the film was probably 10% based on the book & 90% made up.
Disappointing.. but it was a really fun film non the less.8/10 as a stand-alone film.
3/10 as a book adaptation.— Tom 🛴 (@ProSyndicate) March 19, 2018
Oh boy, where do I begin with Ready Player One.
I disliked the book. I felt it was a garbled mess of references for the sake of references, like the author was just demonstrating how clever he was because he knew what Zork was.
As for the film… it's fine.— Eddie Bowley (@Eddache_) March 19, 2018
Honestly, no offence to those who enjoy it, but that was the biggest load of "meh" ever.

Best part by far was Mark Rylance as the creator. The rest just…gyahhh I dunno. Not great. #ReadyPlayerOne

The reviews are in and the reaction is… mixed.
