Grab some wine and a good friend, it’s time for a bants-filled time!
Our wine of choice? A cold glass of Prosecco. Our friend? Well… to be honest, the ones we phoned told us they were too busy to come hang out, so we guess you guys are our friends today! (And every day. We love spending time with you all, even when you like to make fun of us for tweeting about our love of oil.) All settled? Perfect! Now we can get into why we’re all here: our love for Hazel Hayes‘s Tipsy Talk.
Whether you’re a subscriber of Hazel’s or simply a fan of some lighthearted conversation and laughs, we’re sure you’ve come across this series at some point. Hazel has chatted (and drunk) with some pretty awesome people, from our fave YouTubers to the world’s coolest celebrities. We love the series and always look forward to a new video popping up in our sub box, which is why we thought we’d share with you a few of our fave episodes.
From Hazel’s unhealthy obsession with death to chats about life, here are our ten favourite Tipsy Talk episodes.
Tipsy Talk with Taika Waititi
We’re kicking off our list with the latest video in the series: Hazel’s interview with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. We audibly screamed when we saw this pop up in our sub box – we’ve been fans of Taika’s since we watched 2016’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople!
We’re not going to lie, we think this episode of Tipsy Talk is pretty much perfect. We didn’t realise how chill and laid-back Taika is (if we didn’t know any better, we’d think him and Hazel were longtime friends), and we loved hearing about the ideas that went into the new Thor movie. We’re major movie nuts, so the more we can learn about our fave films, the better!
Tipsy Talk with Helen Hayes
We simply couldn’t write this list without including the very honest and open chat Hazel had with her mum, Helen Hayes. We’re sure this wasn’t the easiest conversation to have on the internet and we’re glad the two felt open enough to share what they did. However, we’re didn’t think we’d be hearing about anal leakage when we clicked on the video…
This video also gave us the meaning behind Hazel’s channel name, ChewingSand. For those of you who are unaware, it’s a reference to Irish holidays spent on the beach.
Spoopy Tipsy Talk with Dodie Clark
For a spoopy edition of Tipsy Talk, we recommend this episode with dodie. Not only are the pair’s costumes on point, but so are the bants!
Our favourite moments from this video include the subtle plugging of dodie’s Intertwined EP, the fact that both her and Hazel’s favourite part about living together is the emotional support each provides, and that they can’t sing Finding Nemo‘s Just Keep Swimming without bursting into laughter. Also, we have to agree with Hazel – mashed potatoes are seriously underrated, and it’s a real shame.
Tipsy Talk with Louise Pentland
One of our favourite regular guests on Tipsy Talk is Louise Pentland, who always manages to make us cry with laughter. Each time we see she’s featured in a video, we immediately stop what we’re doing to watch. (We might be slightly obsessed.)
For this episode, not only did we get a badass singalong, but we learnt that Louise has a weird dislike for ham (so much so that she had to quit a job at Subway) and that her New Year’s resolution to to continue to beat Jack Howard at everything. We totally support you in this, Louise!
Tipsy Talk with Cayleigh Maloye
It’s always a riot when Hazel and Cayleigh Maloye get together, and this Tipsy Talk is no different! From an a cappella Star Wars performance to a hilarious discussion about what happened at New Year, this video was a treat and we loved watching these two slowly descend into madness. However, we do worry that Cayleigh managed to confuse a fainting spell with dying…
Cayleigh, please visit the UK again soon! We need a second round of this chat!
Tipsy Talk with Dave Franco
We’re not going to lie, we would give our right leg to interview Dave Franco, so we were super jealous of Hazel when we saw this video in our sub box.
Not only did we love the nod to Jazza John‘s glorious interview with Dave (it’s still one of our favourite videos on the internet), but we loved hearing about how Dave got his start in Hollywood and his thoughts on his early roles. And we’re not going to lie, his dream of owning obese cats that he can ride is something we too share. Doesn’t having a cat the size of a horse sound awesome?!
Tipsy Talk with Jack Howard
This is without a doubt our favourite episode of Tipsy Talk – or should we say Sober Speaking? It’s always a fun-filled time whenever Hazel and Jack get together, and this time was no different! We were dying when Jack played us the drunk voicemail Hazel left for him after a night out (drunk Hazel seems so fun) and we were secretly loving the shade the pair threw at the end.
However, we do have a bone to pick with you, Jack. How on earth do you not drink tea?! That’s blasphemy.
Tispy Talk with AmazingPhil
We never thought we’d see Phil Lester on Tipsy Talk, but it happened and it left a lasting impression on us.
For those of you unaware, Hazel was Phil’s partner manager whilst at Google, so the pair have quite a history. What we learnt from this episode is that Phil should never be allowed to be around sugar or alcohol (he always makes a mess) and that rainbows appear as full circles when you’re in an airplane. However, we feel like we need to double-check that last fact… that scary rubber chicken has probably been filling Phil’s head with lies.
Tipsy Talk with Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer is one of the most famous comedians around, which is no surprise because she’s hilarious, so we’re uber jealous that Hazel got to sit down with her for a Tipsy Talk. This isn’t your typical movie interview. Sure, there’s discussion about Amy’s movie Trainwreck, but the video is primarily a chat about drinking, Amy’s decision to no longer read YouTube comments. and much more!
Who else got the vibe that Amy and Hazel are totes BFFs?
Tipsy Talk with Hannah Witton
We all know Hannah Witton loves to have a good time (have you seen her Drunk Advice series?), so of course she made an appearance on Tipsy Talk.
There were so many things we loved about this episode, but we think our fave moment would have to be the story of Hannah’s roommate – we actually LOL’d in real life! (And you will too.) Overall, we loved how effortless the chat between these two was, and we can only imagine how much fun it must be when they go out on the town. Total laughs all around, we expect.
Feeling a little tipsy yet?
We are, but we don’t think it’s from the drinks… We might be a little light-headed from laughing so much. We love Tipsy Talk and hope Hazel continues to make it in the years to come. Who knows, maybe she’ll allow us to feature on an episode some day. We’re loads of fun, we promise!
