Nine Times Phil Lester Was Too Pure For This World

When thinking of pureness, what comes to mind? Sunshine, angels, and sweetness. And who do we associate with all these things? Phil Lester, of course!

Phil has been one of our favourite YouTubers since the early days of YouTube – remember those black-and-white webcam videos he made? And who can forget Lion, or the forever-iconic Draw Phil Naked segment? It’s safe to say we have a lot of great memories of Phil.

As one of YouTube’s longest-serving creators, Phil’s had his fair share of awkward stories, hilarious anecdotes, and even a stage show! Here, we count down our top nine times Phil Lester was an absolute angel and too pure for this world. (Although let’s be honest, his entire channel is essentially proof of this.)

Why I can’t go back to the gym..

For all of us who’ve ever set foot in the gym, this video screams “relatable”. We too are completely incapable of telling our personal trainers when something is hurting, for fear of awkwardness or embarrassing ourselves. Phil, however, attempted to tell his personal trainer how uncomfortable he was multiple times and was ignored, the result of which is fairly traumatic.

For future reference, avoid Indian meals before the gym. Or just avoid the gym – that works for us.

WILL DAN AND PHIL SURVIVE AUSTRALIA?

Sometimes we get the urge to just wrap up good people and protect them from the dangers of the outside world. This is one of those times. Phil and Daniel Howell don shark and kangaroo costumes respectively to discuss whether they would survive the wilds of Australia (a.k.a. the world’s biggest collection of things that can and probably will kill you).

Fortunately, the two survived their trip and will be returning for their second stage show! Hopefully, they won’t be killed by giant kangaroos this time either.

Reading My Old Diary!

Many of us have kept a diary at some point. Our 13-year-old selves definitely did, and trust us, it’s not a pretty sight, and should never see the light of day. But Phil was willing to brave reading his, not just to himself but to his entire audience! Like us, Phil has plenty of embarrassing stories about trying to impress his crush – the love letter is super sweet.

The mysteries of the townies has yet to be solved, however.

How NOT to meet Emma Watson

In this video, Phil tells the story of how he “met” the stunning Emma Watson. In all seriousness, how does one react to seeing Hermione Granger in real life? We’d have struggled to make a coherent sentence too. (Or more likely just stared, like Phil.)

At least he didn’t actually do any of his attempts to speak to her in real life…

I GOT ATTACKED BY A SQUIRREL

Once again, we really just want to wrap Phil up in a blanket and keep him safe. It seems even nature isn’t averse to attacking him. See, this is why we never go outside, mum! It’s actually dangerous and the proof is in this video.

Why I was a weird kid series

What were the strangest things you thought were true as a child? They probably have nothing on these misconceptions Phil had! Up until he was 14 years old, Phil would sit down in the shower, he wanted a broken arm, and he lied that someone had tied his shoelaces together when he’d done it himself… Okay, maybe that last one is less pure and more concerning.

Smoking Fail!

Now, of course, we all know how bad smoking is and how easy it can be to succumb to peer pressure. Here, Phil tells the story of how he inadvertently joined a “gang” as a teenager and, in an attempt to fit in, almost smoked a cigarette – thankfully, his mum caught him. We even get an appearance from Phil’s amazing mother to confirm that Phil is definitely still grounded! Can she adopt us, please?

R.I.P Simon

Cast your mind back to the distant time of 2011, and you may remember the epic saga regarding the life of Phil’s triop, Simon. His most memorable moments include surviving in a tank of predators and setting Phil on fire for wearing an Edward Cullen mask.

In this touching video, Phil and friends look back on Simon’s life and share their favourite memories. Honestly, we still tear up a bit. Oh, Simon, there never was a better King of the Universe.

Epic Love Fail!

In this heartfelt video, Phil discusses why he thinks he failed at love in his younger years. The story details his disastrous magic show, where he accidentally stabbed himself with a needle and subsequently fainted at the sight of his own blood, all while trying to perform a card trick for the love of his life. Don’t worry, Phil, we still love you!

Is there anyone more amazing?

Although his channel may have moved on from its Lion days, there’s no denying that Phil is one of the sweetest people on YouTube, who needs to be protected at all costs from the dangers of the real world.
