TenEighty caught up with Marcus Butler at HelloWorld to discuss the event and his future plans.
We manage to catch Marcus straight after the VIP tour at HelloWorld. “I took a bunch of the VIPs, gave them a tour of the whole arena,” he says, “explaining what everything is, just hanging out, chatting, and then we had sort of a mini meet-and-greet, then went on stage and spoke to everyone as well.”
When we talk, Marcus is preparing to film an episode of his podcast Lower Your Expectations live at HelloWorld. “My biggest concern is Matt [Viney], my co-host – probably him [performing in front of] an audience – because me doing something in front of 100, 150 people, I’m like, ‘Yeah it’s fine!’ But he has never experienced that, so I think I’m more going to be like, ‘It’s okay Matt, you can do it!'” (The episode that was filmed at HelloWorld can be found here!)
Back in 2016, Marcus released a single with Conor Maynard called I’m Famous. At this moment in time, he describes that as a “one-off” but adds: “I really wanted to do kind of like an EP back then, but it was really cool and fun while it lasted.”
Marcus also released his first book, Hello Life, in 2015, and we’re all wondering about a follow-up to that, right? “I’ve had some thoughts about it before…” he says.
So there’s a possibility of a future book? “Right now, I’d rather spend my time writing a show than a book. So maybe in, like, ten years’ time!”
Following on from that, he adds: “I’m doing a lot of writing at the moment, writing shows.” Currently, he’s working on “three different shows” and has been doing so for the past year. “It’s something I’m really into and passionate about so that is my focus at the moment,” he says.
