Why say something in 140 characters, when you can use 280?
It’s finally arrived: Twitter’s 280-character limit. The site has been teasing the change for quite some time now, and even treated a lucky few users to early access to the new feature. It’s certainly something we’ve been looking forward to for a while, and it looks like we weren’t the only ones – YouTubers have also been eager to get in on the action. One look at your timeline will show many of them posting funny and relatable things with their newly acquired 280 characters, and we thought we’d round up a few of our faves.
Stale memes
According to all known laws
of aviation, there is no way a bee
should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care
what humans think is impossible.— Evan Edinger (@EvanEdinger) November 7, 2017
Why does it not surprise us that Evan Edinger would use his new character limit to hash up stale memes?
A mistake?
Looking at my timelime….
280 characters was a mistake— Jacksanticeye (@Jack_Septic_Eye) November 7, 2017
We’re scared (and very excited) to see how Sean “Jack” McLoughlin will utilise his new character limit.
Tweet stealer
Ok tweet thief. Wow. Get off my lawn.
— Cherry Wallis (@CherryWallis) November 8, 2017
Wow, way to steal Cherry Wallis‘s tweet, Luke Cutforth… Everyone knows she’s the reigning queen of Harry Potter. Stay in your lane.

Leave it to Tom Fletcher to use his newly expanded tweet limit to share his excitement for Christmas. Can you believe it’s less than two months away?!
The new Twitter?
I'm going to invent Twitter, but with 140 character summaries of tweets.

We like your idea, Daniel Hardcastle! Where do we sign up?

Carrie Hope Fletcher wouldn’t be the girl we know and love if she didn’t use her new character limit to spread the love.
Grammar ftw
As the full time Chief of the Grammar Police, #280characters allows me to not have to sacrifice colons, spaces, semicolons or use abbreviations.
Today – grammar wins.
We can now cherish full words – not substitute for letters. Thank you Twitter, this is a true promotion.
— Adam Flanagan (@flanamation) November 8, 2017
Adam Flanagan isn’t the only one excited that we can finally tweet using proper grammar. There’s nothing we hated more than having to sacrifice a comma in order to fit into the original 140 limit.

We might be wrong, but we think Mike Jerry is a little excited over having the 280-character limit.
T Swift in the house

We’re glad Raphael Gomes is using his 280 characters to spread awareness about this gem of a song. It’s so underrated!

Such a millennial
But Iβm a millennial & my brain only thinks in 140 characters or less now π©π€ #280characters

Geez, Doug Armstrong, you’re such a millennial. You and the rest of this generation are the reason why we can’t have nice things!
140-character squad
never mind.. still a member of the 140 character squad ππ»π
— DanTDMπ (@dantdm) November 7, 2017
Sorry, Daniel Middleton. We guess Twitter’s decided you’re not yet allowed to join the Cool Kids Club. Don’t worry, though – it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. The endless tweet possibilities do get boring after a while.
Umm, 240?
Why does everybody have 240 characters except me?? Iβm fuckin suing except not really. This is safe
— festive fiona π (@neonfiona) November 7, 2017
NeonFiona, we think the reason Twitter has yet to increase your character limit is because you don’t know that it’s 280, not 240…
So there you have it…
