Sam Saffold-Geri’s short film A Welcoming Place has been commended by the Lovie Awards.
Sam has won the Lovie Awards’ Creators For Change Award 2017. Aimed at recognising the talent of European internet creators, the Lovies chose Sam for his work on his “haunting” short film, A Welcoming Place, which “confronts xenophobia in a manner that draws the viewer into a gothic supernatural setting”. They also credited his use of YouTube as a platform for social change, fostering “a more open and compassionate world”.
This is the second year the Creators For Change award has been presented, with Rose Dix and Rosie Spaughton taking it home last year.
The award represents another achievement in what has already been a successful year for Sam. Along with his channel hitting 20,000 subscribers, he also made an appearance at Summer in the City and had a video he worked on debut at Buffer Festival.
More information on the Lovie Awards, along with the full list of this year’s winners, can be found on the Awards’ official website.
