VidCon will return to Amsterdam in March 2018.
The online video conference, long established in the US, made its European debut last year, with more than 100 featured creators from around the world appearing at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre.
Next year’s VidCon Europe, which will take place in venues such as the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam and the Movenpick Hotel, runs from 22 to 24 March, and offers an Industry Track for business professionals and a Creator Track for “emerging and aspirational” online video producers and vloggers.
However, the Community Track that existed last year will not be returning for the 2018 event, after VidCon officials decided that the programme “didn’t deliver what we want to give our attendees”.
“We felt that we needed to better engage with Europe’s unique creator communities in order to create a fan experience in the future that is up to our standards,” VidCon said in a statement.
The statement went on to add that the removal of the Community Track was a “difficult decision”, and encouraged those looking for a similar experience to seek out other European events, such as Summer in the City, Tubecon, and Playcon.
“Does this mean we’ll never have another Community Track at VidCon Europe? Not at all,” VidCon said. “We will continue to support and be part of the broader community, but we felt the best way to do that in 2018 was to focus on enabling and empowering creators of all types and the businesses that support them.”
Tickets are on sale now, with the Creator Track priced at €149 and the Industry Track costing €519. More information about VidCon Europe can be found on its website.
