Another week, another Weekly Round-Up.
You’d think we’d get sick of writing the same article week after week, but you’d be wrong! As cheesy as it might sound, there’s nothing we love more than scouring the depths of YouTube to find for you the best videos from the best creators. We here at TenEighty have always prided ourselves on showcasing videos from both established and up-and-coming UK creators, and the Round-Up is the perfect place to do so. And guess what: it’s not something we plan on stopping anytime soon!
Also, we can’t complain when our job allows us to spend hours watching videos. What other job allows you to do that?!
Why I stopped making videos & mental health | SamKingftw
Kicking off our Round-Up is Sam King, who this week had an open and honest discussion with his subscribers. Sam recently took a hiatus from YouTube and uses this video to explain why. Due to a mixture of changes on YouTube and his experience with anxiety and mental health, Sam found it difficult to make videos, which led him to give the site break in order to look at outside ventures.
We always encourage YouTubers to speak up about mental health and their experiences with mental illness. The more they’re discussed, the less alone those suffering will be, and that’s beneficial for everyone.
My Belle Transformation | Amena
Ever wanted to become a Disney princess? Then this video of Amena being turned into Belle for a photoshoot with Linda Blacker is the one for you!
There’s nothing we don’t love about this video. The setting in Cambridge is gorgeous, the piano version of the Beauty and the Beast theme is beautiful, and Amena looks absolutely stunning as Belle! Linda’s already started posting pictures from the shoot on her Instagram and we can’t get over how well they turned out.
Oh No Pedro | Tom Rosenthal
It’s no secret we here at TenEighty are massive fans of Tom Rosenthal. Not only is his music something we listen to on the reg, but the videos he creates to accompany his work are on a whole other level.
Tom’s latest music video is for his song Oh No Pedro, and it’s a work of art if we ever saw one. The blend of animation and reality, paired with the song’s lyrics and the choreographed routine, are mesmerising, and really bring home the message Tom was trying to share. Once again, he’s hit it out of the park!
HEATED FACE-TO-FACE OLI WHITE DEBATE | JaackMaate
For some long-form content, we suggest giving Jack Dean‘s interview with Josh Pieters a watch.
In one of the most honest discussions we’ve seen on YouTube, the pair discuss Jack’s recent videos about Oli White, more specifically Jack’s opinions regarding Oli’s merch (and YouTuber merch in general), among other things. The difference in opinion between the two is plain as day, but they manage keep the conversation civil, open, and reason-based, something you don’t see very often.
As we commented on the video, we’re positively shook.
University For Introverts | ScarfDemon
Closing out this week’s Round-Up is Chloe Dungate, with this video about being introverted at university. Honestly, it feels like Chloe is describing our own experiences whilst away at uni. We felt awkward at first, because we didn’t like to party too much and would much rather be alone in our room than out playing beer pong and dropping the bass with our flatmates, but as time went on, we were pleased to discover likeminded people who would soon make university one of the best experiences of our lives.
Moral of the video: university might feel like a lonely and daunting place, but give it time. You’ll eventually find those you feel comfortable with and who accept you for who you are.
What do you mean you want more?!
Lucy Moon has launched her new series: The Sunday Social! Check out the first episode featuring social entrepreneur, Bejay Mulenga.
In the mood for some new music? We suggest giving Daniel Dobbs‘s new song Tired & Defeated a listen.
Connie Glynn is once again showing us why she’s the queen of impressions, this time focusing on characters that share her love of pink!
Emma Blackery‘s life has forever changed after her latest EP was featured at the launch of Apple’s new iPhone. We couldn’t be more proud of our girl!
