The new week begins….
And, if Tom Ridgewell doesn’t mind us quoting him, “as it tends to do: with a Monday”. While many of you might disagree, Monday is one of our most favourite days of the week because it means that we’re up-to-date with all the goings-on of YouTube. (And there are a lot.)
It also means it’s time for another Weekly Round-Up. So what are you waiting for?! Get reading!
Why you should give Shakespeare a chance |#RSCTempest| Ad | Suli Breaks
Starting this week off we have a unique spoken word video from Suli Breaks, who’s teamed up with Intel to talk about Shakespeare.
Do you hate reading Shakespeare? If the answer is “yes”, then it’s probably because his works can be pretty hard to understand. Suli’s piece gives you an idea of the role technology can have in understanding the Early Modern English that Shakespeare used, and we think this is just the video we needed with classes creeping up on us.
Total Solar Eclipse on a Cruise Ship with Bonnie Tyler! | Evan Edinger Travel
Last week, we went on and on about how jealous we were that our American friends had such a good view of the eclipse, while we were stuck with basically nothing. Luckily, some of our favourite British YouTubers, including Evan Edinger, got to experience it in its totality from a cruise ship and vlogged it for us to see.
It would have been incredible to see the eclipse in real life, but we are so thankful for vlogs like this. And, to be honest, we are a little jealous that Evan go to meet Joe Jonas, no matter how much we hate his moustache.
Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift | Cover | LibbyLumos
We know there hasn’t been a whole lot of positive reaction to Taylor Swift’s new song. However, whether you liked the song or not, please, please give Libby Tidley‘s cover a listen.
This cover is wonderful – we’re pretty sure it’s better than the original – thanks to that lovely melody Libby added. You can definitely tell that there was a lot of effort and heart put into this video, and we’re obsessed with it.
Look what you made us do, Libby.
Back on The Pill?! | The Hormone Diaries Ep. 12 | Hannah Witton
The Hormone Diaries is one of the best series on YouTube, which is why it was up for an award at Summer in the City this year. It’s been such a great experience over the past year, following Hannah Witton on her journey with quitting the Pill.
But a chapter of that journey is closing, and a new one is opening, because, like the title says, Hannah is back on the Pill! We didn’t think it was going to be such a rough time. We’re so, so sorry Hannah – we’re keeping our fingers crossed it gets better!
Samson – Hula Hoop Flow | Harleyislame
We’ve seen people do hula hoop flow at festivals, but, if we’re honest, we don’t think we’ve seen anyone as graceful as Harley Owen.
We’re not sure if it’s the choice of song or the way Harley twirls the hoop around, but this routine is absolutely mesmerising. We wish we had those skills, but sadly, we can’t even do the most basic of hula hoop tricks.
Want more? We’ve got you covered.
Alicia Natalie sits down and has a chat with us as to why we should be patient with one another. No matter how incoherent she thinks this rant may be, it’s full of good advice.
PJ Liguori gives us a tutorial on how to cure insomnia and sleep through the night. We’re really hoping this one helps, because it’s our last resort. Don’t forget, once you make your lullaby cube, keep it safe.
Sam Chapman tests out the new Marc Jacobs pallettes and gives us a little update on what she’s been up to. Also, it was recently her birthday, so don’t forget to wish her a happy fortieth. Happy birthday, Sam!
Lastly, but certainly not least, Melanie Murphy chats openly and honestly about her past with eating disorders. (Before watching, please be aware of your triggers if you struggle with an ED, as she has put a TW on the video.)
