A marathon quartered is a problem quartered – that’s the saying, right?
Luke Cutforth is someone we all know, whether it is for his YouTube videos, directing skills, or the feature-length film The Drowning of Arthur Braxton (which is now post-production).
I’m watching @arthurbraxton while we gear up for more post production. It’s on its way. I’m frickin proud of it 😋 Films take a long time… pic.twitter.com/2ZKSS3s8Db

Something he isn’t exactly known for is running – more specifically, marathon running. That may be about to change though, as in a recent video Luke shared how he tackled that very thing:
As Luke himself says in the video: “I really didn’t think about the fact that I have never run anything ever at all in my entire life, and this was probably a really bad idea…”
So, why did he put himself through this ordeal?!
The video opens with an explanation. Luke talks about his mother, who, unfortunately, had a heart attack last year. Happily, she is still with us, and this spurred her and her family on to raise money for a charity which supports people who’ve suffered from strokes and heart disease.
They decided on the charity Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland for two reasons: Luke’s mum is Scottish, and he wanted to raise money charity that doesn’t test on animals.
Luke, his uncle, his dad, and his sister all joined forces to run the Edinburgh marathon as a relay. Luke shares in the video that their aim was to complete the full course in under four hours.
We won’t spoil the ending, obviously – you should watch the video! But we can tell you that we believe Luke completed his section in a pretty outstanding 41 minutes and 51 seconds (our maths is sponsored by the iPhone calculator). This is especially brilliant when you remember he was carrying his Casey Neistat-inspired beast of a vlogging camera the whole way!
It is always good to see creators doing their bit to give back and this is no different. We also really like the new style Luke went for in this video. Emma Blackery put it best by saying:
this is genuinely so well shot and so relaxing to watch please do more stuff in this style pal it suits you a lot

We agree with Emma, Luke! More like this and soon. And yes, this does mean we expect you to take up running now!
