Who needs television comedy specials when you have an endless supply of LOLs being uploaded daily to YouTube?
You may remember that we recently gifted you all with our Five of the Best: Kings of Comedy, a list that gave us one of the most important Twitter moments in history. In case you missed it, we’re talking about this epic burn that will forever give us a sense of pride:
@JackHoward but you're not even funny though?
— TenEighty UK (@TenEightyUK) March 29, 2017
This time around, we’ve prepared what we feel is a pretty impressive list featuring a group of women who are so funny that they frequently leave us with stitches in our sides. So grab a seat and some popcorn, and check out our Five of the Best: Queens of Comedy. Funny gals producing funny videos.
American Tampon Man | #LPStoryTime | Sprinkleofglitter
If you haven’t been watching Louise Pentland‘s #LPStoryTime, you’re missing out on a world of cringe and hilarious stories. If we’re being honest, we’ll probably be binge-watching them all again by the end of the month.
In American Tampon Man, we hear about one of Louise’s first forays into the dating world. Back in a time when you couldn’t Facebook-stalk your crush – because *gasp* there was no Facebook – Louise had no idea what lay in store for her. Luckily, she’s not shy about dishing all the details to us, along with a never-before-heard-of technique to turn down that end-of-the-night kiss.
We won’t spoil the ending for you, but let us just say that we were giggling just as much as Louise. But all joking aside, we are dying to try the technique out! Purely for the awkwardness and the fact they’d never text us back again… Which wouldn’t be an issue, to be honest.
I have one hand, Sorry | Mandeville Sisters
Maybe you haven’t noticed, or maybe you wanted all the details about why and how and watched her video explanation several times over, but Grace Mandeville only has one hand. And who knew that it gifts her with the perfect excuse to avoid anything she might not feel like doing. Sorting the washing? Nah. Going for a walk? Not today. Reading sister Amelia‘s blog post? Just not going to happen.
Really, it’s upsetting how limited Grace’s life is… oh wait. Having one hand is all she’s ever known and it hasn’t stopped her water-skiing, climbing, or becoming a hilarious YouTube sensation alongside two-handed Amelia. Queen.
HOT MESS | ChewingSand
Hazel Hayes is the queen of many things, including comedy, and Hot Mess is an excerpt from a sitcom she not only stars in, but also wrote and directed! Honestly, she just keeps adding to her list of successful endeavours. While we may only get five minutes, it’s more than enough to whet our appetites and leave us wanting more!
Hot Mess is exactly the kind of show we want to see on TV, instead of those annoying repeats of Antiques Roadshow. Witty, with strong acting and super high production values, Hazel not only knows how to write, but how to address her audience. So much so that it seems like a vlog between two besties, rather than a scripted production. Keep an eye out because we are sure Hazel will be bringing more of this our way soon enough.
Special shoutout to Jack Howard for editing, proving once again he is involved in all the right productions.
Back Garden Olympics | thatjennybee
Time for a throwback to 2012, when creators were posting Olympic-themed videos in celebration of London 2012 – including Jenny Bingham. The Back Garden Olympics is one that we could still take on today, long after the motivation of watching sport all summer has faded along with the sun of Rio.
Jenny takes on the challenge of the single jump, cartwheeling, and hula. Secret TenEighty news: we can only confidently do one of those things. If you are new to watching sport, you’ll know that voiceovers are crucial, so Jamie Spicer-Lewis‘s thrilling intonation elevates the level of sporting prowess to grab the audience’s attention… Not that Jenny needs it. It’s clear we’re dealing with a professional here.
Tokyo 2020 is still on the cards!
How To Netflix and Chill | emmablackery
Shocking news coming in from Emma Blackery: something better than Netflix and Chill does exist! But strangely enough, all her suggestions with Jack Dean seem to rhyme… Netflix and Still will have you practising to be so still that if someone were to walk in on you, they wouldn’t even know you’re there. Stealing a chocolate bar from the cupboard when your mum walks in? Keep very still and you’ll get away with it. You could even take another! Or how about suggesting a bit of Netflix and Quill the next time your crush comes over? We mean, exams are coming up, after all. A little Shakespearean revision can’t do any harm.
However, if none of Emma and Jack’s suggestions take your fancy, Netflix and Chill sounds like a pretty solid option: blankets, cuddles, conspiracy theory documentaries… There isn’t much that can top that.
So there you have it…
Five of the Best: Queens of Comedy. Do they stand up well against our Kings? We sure think they do! British humour is celebrated throughout the world and now you know why!
