DanNerdCubed’s ten-hour charity live stream exceeded its initial donation goal by more than 240%.
Dan Hardcastle hosted a ten-hour stream on his Twitch channel on 23 March for Red Nose Day, to raise money for Comic Relief. The stream’s initial fundraising goal was set at £5,000, which was reached in less than an hour of broadcasting. By the end of the stream, Dan had raised a total of £16,693, though donations are still being made, and the current total stands at over £17,200.
STREAM DONE! THANKS TO ALL WHO CAME OUT!
£16,693 RAISED!
THANKS ALL OF YOU AND GOODNIGHT!— Daniel Hardcastle (@DanNerdCubed) March 24, 2017
During the stream, Dan was joined by fellow NerdCubed members Matt Collins and Many A True Nerd, as well as special guests including Jay Foreman, Stuart Ashens, and Yogscast members Martyn Littlewood, Sips, and CaffCast.
Dan and friends played games including Superfight in Tabletop Simulator, Worms Armageddon, and Cards Against Humanity.
To encourage donations, Dan set milestone “rewards” for reaching £10,000 and £15,000, both of which were reached within the stream. One milestone involved licking a Nintendo Switch cartridge, while another resulted in Matt concluding the stream reading out fanfiction. #VajayjayForJay was also trending in the UK as a result.
