It’s finally here, the day we’ve all been waiting for…
And we’re not talking about the release of Ed Sheeran’s new album (although, that is pretty exciting). No, what we’re talking about is the official release day for the Nintendo Switch and, most importantly, the NEW Zelda game! After months of teasers and anticipation that culminated in us camping outside our local games shop for about two weeks, the game of the year – nay, the game of the century – has finally been released. Can you tell we’re excited?
You know who else was over the moon about the game’s release? YouTubers, of course! If you hadn’t gathered from our YouTubers Do Nintendo Switch Event recap, many of our faves are massive video game nerds (even more so than us!), so they obviously had to get their hands on the game. And in true TenEighty fashion, we had to share with you our favourite reactions. Enjoy!
Dying from excitement is a real thing

Melanie Murphy, we know you’re excited and all, but please, don’t die on us. We need you around to teach us about sexuality, healthy eating, and just life in general. YouTube wouldn’t be the same without you.
When you’re feeling left out…
Everyone's playing the new Zelda today an I'm over here like… pic.twitter.com/rz1Xc63zns
— Electra Snow (@ElectraSnow) March 3, 2017
We know you’re feeling left out right now, Electra Snow, but don’t fret! We know you’ll get your hands on Breath of the Wild soon enough and then you’ll be as addicted as the rest of us!
Side-note: we have to applaud you for your choice of GIF. It’s a pretty accurate representation of the TenEighty crew on a daily basis.
So. Many. Tears.
Tried to post a video to Instagram about how excited I am and ended up crying 🙃 Zelda's just very important to little old me. pic.twitter.com/HXDH0TwuOZ
— Dean Dobbs (@DeanDobbs) March 3, 2017
You know when you love something so much that your body produces what can only be described as a waterfall of tears? No? Well, we suggest you ask Dean Dobbs. We’re sure he can tell you all about it.
Nooooooo
Seeing everyone's Nintendo switch pictures makes me super sad I cancelled my pre order 😭 pic.twitter.com/PiSvOcmoyH
— Em Ford (@mypaleskinblog) March 3, 2017
Em Ford, how could you cancel your preorder? Do you not know what you’re missing out on?!
Hurry, someone get this girl a Nintendo Switch stat!
One day, Pete. One day.
Today is not my day, but I cannot WAIT to own an @NintendoUK Switch. I will play that beautiful creation into the ground 😭
— Pete Bucknall (@petesjams) March 3, 2017
Not everyone was able to get their hands on the Switch today, like Pete Bucknall, and while we’d like to feel bad for him, we find ourselves being too obsessed with our own to care about anything else… Sorry, Pete. We know you’ll get one soon!
Uhh… Connie?
@NikiAlbon @melaniietweets @BeckiiCruel no. pic.twitter.com/i0pcGS5Gt1
— Connie 🍑 (@noodlerella) March 2, 2017
We feel Breath of the Wild has left Connie Glynn in a state of… Umm… Well, we’re quite sure, to be honest. Maybe we should send someone to check that she’s okay.
Everyone can be an explorer!
So far I've spent more time randomly exploring Zelda than I have on the mission objectives :'D It's an amazing game 😊
— Tom Burns (@TomRPI) March 3, 2017
Unlike previous Zelda games, Breath of the Wild‘s universe is massive. The expanse of the game’s landscape is so wide that you’ll probably spend more time exploring than actually working on the actual missions. Don’t believe us? Just ask Tom Burns.
Phil takes one for the team, so you don’t have to
The nintendo switch game cartridges are bitter so children won't eat them?! Why am I really tempted to lick one now?
— Phil Lester (@AmazingPhil) March 3, 2017
Rumours have been spreading across the internet regarding the Switch’s game cartridges, which are said to taste incredibly bitter, so that children won’t eat them. There’s only one way to find out if this is true or not, so we’re glad Phil Lester and Dan Howell took it upon themselves to put the rumours to the test.
Spoiler: they were true.
Final thoughts
Was never fully into Zelda before, but Breath of the Wild is something else. I'm obsessed
— Roomie (@roomieofficial) March 4, 2017
Life's good & Breath Of The Wild is beautiful. 👌🏻 pic.twitter.com/lVKoqCsgif
— Elliot Gough (@ElliotExplicit) March 4, 2017
I haven't even scratched the surface of Breath of the Wild, but the game has so much to offer and I just can' wait to dig in deeper.
— Daniel Dobbs (@Daniel_Dobbs) March 3, 2017
We might be interpreting these tweets wrong, but we have a hunch that Daniel Dobbs, Joel Berghult, and Elliot Gough might be in love with the game. Just an observation.
The reviews are in…
…and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a hit and a half! It appears the game has taken the YouTube world by storm, so don’t be surprised if your faves don’t upload over the next few days. Odds are they’ve locked themselves away in their rooms in order to explode the vastness that is Hyrule.
