Sometimes when the right YouTuber and the right brand come together, the results can be magical…
Over the last few years, brand deals have become commonplace for online creators. For many, it isn’t just about making money, but being enabled to do things that would otherwise be impossible with brands they enjoy. And you know what? We believe that should be celebrated!
Platforms such as Niche help to make great sponsored content like this possible. So in celebration of their upcoming International #CreatorDay event – for which TenEighty is the official media partner – we’ve picked out five of our favourite campaigns made possible through Niche.
Apple Music – StorrorBlog
A rooftop run might seem like a walk in the park for the Storror boys, but with a little help from Apple they’ve created something spectacular. The boys got to try out the new Mavic’s ActiveTrack drone which, thanks to its bird’s eye view, has left us feeling like we’re right in the middle of 1997’s Grand Theft Auto.
Can we make that jump? Unless you’re secretly a member of Storror, odds are you can’t. So DON’T try this at home.
Besides giving us nostalgia for a golden era of gaming, we’re blown away by the sheer skill of the boys as well as whoever was operating the drone. Oh, and we’re reminded of how depressingly unfit we are. *weeps into third packet of Doritos*
Mark & Spencer – Kate Murnane
Most of us can’t contain ourselves during the countdown to Christmas, even with every bloody brand vying for our attention. Marks & Spencer, however, decided to bring it back to basics, by asking five different creators what they love most about the season.
For us, this snap from Kate Murnane‘s Instagram sums up the true meaning of Christmas beautifully. Yes, we love the food, and of course, giving and receiving gifts feels great. But ultimately, it’s about being around the people you love and making memories together – that’s what truly makes Christmas so special.
We love how simple yet intimate this image is, and we LITERALLY can’t get enough of Kate’s dress. Classy and on point!
Amazon Echo – Dan Bull
Ever wanted to play an intense game of trivia with an AI? Well, Dan Bull recently got the chance to thanks to the Amazon Echo – or Alexa as she’s known among friends – and things got a bit heated.
Masterfully recreating the pressure present in Mastermind, Alexa manages to stay calm under the intense conditions, almost coming off a bit arrogant at points with her confidence. However, we smell something fishy here. While Alexa was asked to name Santa’s reindeer, Dan was asked to name the amount of counties there are in England… Not even a geography undergraduate knows this!
If you enjoy dramatic tension, just wait until you hear the results. We won’t give anything away, but we’ll say that one of them suffers quite a crushing defeat.
McDonald’s – Samantha Harvey
I went to McDonald's and played with the cute 3D creatures and really got into the festive spirit! Have you blipped the McDonald’s #hellogoodtimes tray yet? #ad
Posted by Samantha Harvey on Saturday, December 3, 2016
If you’ve ever been on a McDonald’s date with someone who eats very slowly, you’ll know the pain of trying to stay entertained whilst they dip each individual chip into their packet of barbecue sauce. Who needs that?
Why not follow Samantha Harvey’s lead by taking yourself to McDonald’s and be entertained by their augmented reality trays? Unfortunately you may have missed your opportunity as this was for McDonald’s #HelloGoodTimes campaign at Christmas. Here’s hoping Maccy-D’s bring out MORE games, cos with our short attention spans, lord knows we need entertaining between each Big Mac bite!
Doritos – The Wall of Comedy
Dance moves ✔ The Wall of Comedy got our lads sorted for the #BoldChipmas party 😂
Posted by Doritos on Wednesday, December 7, 2016
Who needs to hit the clubs when a couple of bags of Doritos can get you body popping in the comfort of your own home? That’s what The Wall of Comedy did as part of Doritos’ #BoldChipmas campaign, and we reckon they’re giving Diversity from Britain’s Got Talent a run for their money.
Pros: Not going out in the cold, cheaper night, your choice of music, no embarrassing kebab on the way home. Cons: hovering the floor after you throw half the bag in the air. This is a night we’re down for. *opens fourth packet of Doritos*
We’ve completely forgotten how unfit Storror made us feel… *starts convulsing rhythmically before breaking into uncontrollable dancing*
Ah crap, somebody send a cleaner round to TenEighty HQ! *continues dancing*
We hate to say we told you so…
But we did, didn’t we! Now excuse us while we get our brand new Dyson hoover out… no this is not a brand deal, we just need to clean up! (Although Dyson, feel free to get in touch.)
