The “On The Rise” section will highlight four channels per week, with each channel getting a full 24 hours to themselves on the section.
YouTube has said it will feature two “creators” and two “artists” with over 1,000 subscribers each week. Other potential factors in the decision include watch time and view count.
YouTube’s Product Marketing Manager Jon Youshaei has said that the team hope the feature will “help the world discover inspirational new creators”, claiming that currently over 1,000 creators are passing the 1,000 subscriber milestone every day.
That's pretty cool. @YouTube seems to be promoting smaller channels "on the rise" with a playlist of their videos in the trending tab. pic.twitter.com/T8CXnH5Any

On The Rise launched in the US on 11 January, with travel channel internationally ME as the first featured creator. It is expected to roll out worldwide over the next few months.
