Lindy Tsang has teamed up with education-based nonprofit Pencils of Promise to fund the creation of three schools in Ghana.
In a video released a week ago, Lindy Tsang announced what would be her second collaboration with Pencils of Promise, a global education organisation working to increase literacy rates and improve the quality of education in Ghana, Guatemala, Laos, and Nicaragua.
Donations for the campaign can be made in three ways: by purchasing a t-shirt exclusive to the project or the “Be…” by BubzBeauty eyeshadow palette, or by donating directly to Pencils of Promise.
The campaign is off to a quick start, raising enough money to build one out of the three schools planned in just under a week. Of the $105,000 goal, $10,687 has been raised since the project’s inception on 31 October.
“So many of us take our education for granted,” said Lindy. “Being able to read/write might not be something you think much about but it can make all the difference for a child’s life. Education is the only way forward to transform a person’s life. Nobody can grow if they cannot learn.”
Last year, Lindy and her viewers helped raise over $50,000 to build two schools in Laos, ultimately impacting the lives of more than 200 children.
Since 2008, Pencils of Promise has helped build more than 300 schools, educating over 30,000 students around the world in a safe, structurally sound learning environment. More information is available on the charity’s website. Lindy’s project can be supported on her campaign page.
