Drew Baldwin, Streamy Awards Founder, said: “This year’s Streamy Nominees represent the most diverse range of creators the Streamy Awards have ever seen, with stars on new and emerging platforms. Creators have reached new heights in how they captivate, inspire, educate, and entertain us — with new technologies, new formats, and new ways to engage with their communities. We’re honored to be celebrating these achievements with such a brilliant class of creative people.”
Hazel Hayes commented on Twitter about the awards, saying: “A few people pointed out that there are no women nominated for best director at the Streamys. Same with best writer. Little bit sad to see.
“Not that I’d want women added as tokens of course!” she added. “I just know there was some great work done by female writers and directors this past year.” When asked for examples of female filmmakers in the community who deserved nominations, Hazel listed creators she believed should have been considered.
