Hey there, UK YouTube community, we need to talk.
Basically, there have been far too many BLOODY GOOD VIDEOS this week, so much so that it was really hard to pick just a few. Seriously guys, we can’t keep up with all of this creativity! Is it something in the water? A special kind of tea? Cake? If the answer’s cake, then we’ll have a slice.
Even if cake isn’t the answer, we’ll still have a slice, cus, y’know, cake. And speaking of cake…
Cupcakes and Lifestyle Shaming – candysomething
The ever lovely Candice O’Reilly has been baking cakes (and got us thinking about them 24/7), while simultaneously having a bit of a chat with us about lifestyle-shaming.
We all know that you’re often only a couple of clicks away from being shouted at from someone on the internet, and vegans in particular sometimes get a bad rap for being a little on the shouty side with their beliefs. Here, Candice expresses her frustration with the shouty folk, accompanied by a bit of cupcake baking.
Here’s a thought though: if we all expressed our opinions while baking cupcakes, would we all be happier? Answers on a postcard please. Or a cupcake.
The Perils Of Dating!! – SprinkleofGlitter ft. tyranosauruslexxx
There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned collab video to brighten up your Monday, and this corker from two of our faves, Louise Pentland and Lex Croucher has done JUST THAT. We’re just wondering why these two haven’t teamed up to make a video before?
Featuring such quotes as “I’ll let them see all of me before they see all of…me Facebook” and “hot, fresh, crusty carbs”, we defy you not to laugh yourself silly. (For the record, we also thoroughly recommend the video they made on Lex’s channel if you feel like you haven’t laughed enough yet.)
Stars – Dan Stokes
Well, well, well. Look who’s back! Dan Stokes has arrived back on the shores of YouTube (well, Brighton anyway) and hit us in the face with a brand new style: spoken-word poetry with a beautiful video to accompany it, directed by Oliver Banks. We would definitely recommend giving this video your full attention for the full one minute and 46 seconds because it gave us Actual Chills.
And yes Dan, we spotted that sneaky little “1/5” hiding away in the description, and now we can’t wait to see the rest!
Stitches: Shawn Mendes cover – Morgan M-James
Ok Round-Up readers, we’re going to level with you here. We’ve heard this song a LOT lately. Verging on a little too much, maybe? But then along came Morgan M-James with this cover/duet with himself, and blew us away.
Morgan’s quietly been making waves in the music corner of YouTube, and we are absolutely convinced that his channel is going places in the next few months!
I Am Not A Millennial – Lucy Moon
As if one stellar spoken word video wasn’t enough for one Round Up, the marvellous Lucy Moon has another one for us! In response to a not-so-nice article about millennials (goodness knows we’ve seen too many of those lately!), Lucy has put together a very eloquent and hard-hitting piece telling it like it is.
If we could shout this from the rooftops, we would, but for now, we’ll just have to leave it here and hope that one of you has a rooftop to shout from. Safely, of course…
Remember how we said there was more good stuff this week? Well, here you go!
Louis Cole has been back to Kenya to revisit some charity projects that he’s been working with since 2007 with some seriously heartwarming results.
Need a bit of a mashup/triple collab in your life? Of course you do, and conveniently Dodie Clark and Orla Gartland have teamed up with Australian musician Andie Isalie to bring us this amazing creation.
World of the Orange have returned! We repeat, WOTO have returned!! And in true WOTO form, they have returned with as little effort as possible and uploaded a whole hour-long podcast. It’s audio-only, but funny as ever. Welcome back, guys!
And just one more for you, Hannah Witton has teamed up with sex-positive US YouTuber Laci Green. This is another of those collabs that we feel like we’ve been waiting forever to happen and it’s FINALLY HERE!
