Roses are red, violets are blue, it’s Valentine’s again and we love You…Tube.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner chilly nights are giving way to love, romance and passion. Or if you’re anything like us, long YouTube marathons and far too much hot chocolate (which let’s be honest, is the real love of our lives). Last year’s love-inspired Five of the Best was so much fun, and with a whole other year of heartwarming, tearjerking and inspiring love videos to throw into the mix, we just had to do another one.
So cuddle up to your sweetheart, your pet, or foodstuff of choice, and prepare the tissues! It’s Five More of the Best: Love-Inspired Videos!
a view – Emily Diana Ruth
There are few things cuter than baking Valentine cupcakes with your favorite person, especially when that person is Charlie McDonnell (we haven’t forgotten who our YT crushes from 2010!). Add in the serene beauty Emily Diana Ruth brings to everything she touches and you’ve got a nigh on perfect recipe.
Seriously, who knew baking could look so gorgeous? Whenever we make cupcakes we get eggshell in the batter, flour across the walls; we’re much more frantic than romantic.
So kudos to Emily and Charlie who have instead turned the act into a heartwarming snapshot of their relationship, offering a little window into the adoration they have for one another through all those loving shots. Serious #relationshipgoals. Paired with a wistful tune from JT Royster, we’re given such a cosy atmosphere we can almost smell those cupcakes. Dammit now we’re just hungry for cupcakes. Who’s going to bring us some?
For Dougie – Bish Bash Becca
If you don’t know Becca Byford yet, we’re sure this video will make you fall in love with her! We adore how confessional this feels, and how this simple love letter to her boyfriend of six years captures both the vulnerability and strength of trusting someone else with your heart.
Instead of painting love as perfection we are given raw commentary about relationships. It’s quiet, contemplative, and appreciative, but most of all, realistic. Mix in some silly footage from years past and our emotions are doomed. Now our eyes are all moist. Quick, where did we put those tissues?
Me & Mrs F – Love Is On The Radio – Tom Fletcher
After that wonderful wedding song Tom Fletcher became the YouTube romantic, so we couldn’t miss him off this list. But we don’t like to get too predictable, so instead of that video we opted for this gorgeous duet with his wife, Gi, instead. We’ve seen Tom describe Gi’s voice as angelic before and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. And those harmonies, *swoons*, simply to die for! Buzz, with so much talent in your family we can’t imagine what your lullabies sound like.
Originally a McFly song this duet captures so perfectly those happy little butterflies you get when you’re in love! We’ll be dancing to this all through Valentine’s Day.
OUR STORY – The Michalaks
When it comes to packaging up love and nostalgia into YouTube videos no-one does it better than the Michalaks, and this video where they tell us the story of how they met and started their family is no exception. Running away to Vegas sounds like a cliche, but here it becomes one of the most charming love stories we’ve heard in a long time.
This video had the potential to be too sweet to handle, but we get just enough sarcasm and comedy to keep us emotionally invested throughout. We’re sure the image of Stefan uncomfortably eating vegetables before he could propose is the definition of priceless. And sleeping through a honeymoon road trip? That would probably be us, too, Hannah!
We get to see their gorgeous camera work every week, but reminiscing over a compilation of old wedding footage and early vlogs has us falling in love with them all over again. And not crying. Nope. Not at all. *grabs another tissue*.
Unnecessary Otter | Valentine’s Special – ChewingSand
Romance means different things to different people. For some it can be grand gestures or constant snuggling, for others the little things or furtive glances, but for us, romance is in the shape of a foul mouthed stuffed animal. Yes it’s Unnecessary Otter, who along with the ever-fabulous Hazel Hayes is here to show you how to make the Valentine’s card of your dreams. #ThanksOtter.
Okay, so maybe Otter does more swearing and sobbing than actual crafting, but that’s what endears him to us, and we’re sure he was still helpful in giving Hazel moral support. Kind of.
Several years down the line and we’re dying to know the status of their relationship. Did Hazel and Otter get back together? Do we have a chance now? Is it appropriate for us to send Otter one of those cards we just learned how to make. BE OUR VALENTINE OTTER! WE’RE STILL STOATALLY SMITTEN WITH YOU!
