Summer in the City organisers Tom Burns and Dave Bullas have joined forces with Kilimanjaro Live and Triple A Media to launch Free Focus, a digital and music talent management company.
Free Focus is a company formed with the aim of developing long-term careers and growth for stars of a digital age. It will bring together for the first time industry professionals from the worlds of YouTube, music, TV, radio, and live events, all offering their unique strengths and capabilities.
The first signings to Free Focus are singer/songwriter and presenter Bethan Leadley, and Helen Anderson and Conor Etteridge of the indie beach-pop duo Box of Light.
They have already helped Bethan with her EP release, live shows, and her weekly TV slot presenting The UK Music Video Chart Show on 4Music. They also secured Box of Light a role supporting indie rockers Wavves on their UK tour.
They won’t be limiting themselves to musicians or vloggers, but are open to a range of other creators as well including filmmakers, poets, artists, beauty gurus and gamers.
TenEighty spoke to Dave Bullas about the new venture. He told us that Free Focus is looking for people who are passionate and driven. “They may not yet be making a living from what they do,” he said, “but if that’s their goal, if they have the talent and are willing to put in the work, we can help them get there.”
Dave also added that he hoped Free Focus would have a positive influence on the YouTube community as a whole. “If we can help our creators to make sustainable careers that they enjoy, while being trustworthy and transparent in all of our dealings, then I will be happy.”
