May the force be with You…Tube.
This week marked the UK release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Naturally the internet has exploded. Not only have our favourite YouTubers been tweeting about it non-stop, but a lot of them (and we mean a lot of them) were on the red carpet at the Leicester Square premiere!
We may not have been there, but we definitely share their excitement. (Warning: while there aren’t any spoilers in this article, we cannot promise the Star Wars tropes won’t tire quite quickly…)

— The Midnight Beast (@midnightbeastuk) December 16, 2015
To get you pumped we have Stefan Abingdon and Dru Wakely doing what The Midnight Beast do best. A catchy Star-Wars-theme-sampling Craig David parody, that loops endlessly. We highly recommend you leave this playing while reading this article. It won’t get irritating, and we’re not trying to brainwash you.
We get it, you’re going to see Star Wars…
7 hours. pic.twitter.com/l5My2AHL2p
— Liam Dryden (@LiamDrydenEtc) December 15, 2015
There was a lot of this all over social media. Y’know, people just showing off or trying to contain their excitement yet unable to not say something about it. We picked out this one from Liam Dryden because we’re massive fans of Arrested Development. What would Lucille Bluth make of all this?
The force is strong with Emperor CoolLike
VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING A STAR WAR TONIGHT #TheForceAwakens pic.twitter.com/eDTCi2CLPk
— Scary McDonnell (@coollike) December 15, 2015
If there’s one person with a tyrannical rule over all the UK YouTube community, it’s Charlie McDonnell. (Don’t roll your eyes. We warned you about the bad and relentless Star Wars references in this article.)
But what do you wear to a premiere?
Here's what I'm wearing to the Star Wars premiere tonight #TheForceAwakens https://t.co/YmHZLmCbHR pic.twitter.com/GwW7WKA2FR
— Phil Lester (@AmazingPhil) December 16, 2015
We expect to see Phil Lester wearing this on the next Paris fashion week catwalk.
Darth Vader impressions were rife…
ON OUR WAY TO SEE #STARWARS
ME:😢😱🤓😎🍆🦄🐳 pic.twitter.com/oujmLkEb5b
— Spoopy Sammy 💀 (@SammyAlbon) December 15, 2015
…And that’s just Sammy Albon on the way to the premiere!
Our boy Jim was hosting on the red carpet!
Surely that’s a measure of how far our YouTube world has come. Jim Chapman interviewing proper people on the red carpet of the biggest film release of this decade so far. No?
Stormtroppers = #squadgoals

— Dan Howell (@danisnotonfire) December 16, 2015
From here on out, Dan Howell will be backed by a unit of stormtroopers in all selfies to complete his look.
But if you can’t locate stormtroopers…
We are about to see Star Wars. I can't even. I genuinely can't even. https://t.co/qqO5Wb4QN9 pic.twitter.com/vsfsnbKtBI
— Slayzel Slays (@TheHazelHayes) December 15, 2015
How about Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs? A+ to Hazel Hayes for rocking Princess Leia-style hair.
All the boys were very dapper…
walking the red carpet like we know what we're doing for the @starwars premiere 🤓 pic.twitter.com/VRbqvltoKH
— Marcus Butler (@MarcusButler) December 16, 2015
Yep, while we sat staring at our feeds in jogging bottoms and a stained top, this lot were snazzing it up. Dan and Phil ditched the stormtroopers for Felix Kjellberg and Marcus Butler. If they weren’t at the Star Wars premiere, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was the start of a LADZ NITE OUT! Or maybe it was.
And the award for the best bow tie goes to…
PJ Liguori! It has little stars on it and everything. Very on brand.
HARRISON FORD!
Thank the maker! #HanSolo is here at #TheForceAwakens European Premiere https://t.co/k72DTZnwqs
— Star Wars UK (@StarWarsUK) December 16, 2015
How Jim isn’t freaking out right now we don’t know. Our boy’s a professional. *proud parent emoji*
Celebrity selfie attempts were made…
I tried to get a selfie with Simon Pegg. I failed pic.twitter.com/cun7aQv1SZ
— Amelia Mandeville 👻 (@AmeliaMandev) December 16, 2015
Amelia Mandeville here with Simon Pegg. Don’t worry, we can’t all be as calm and collected as Jim!
But Sammy got the best one…
Some snaps from the #StarWarsForceAwakens premiere. (featuring GEORGE FUCKING LUCAS). pic.twitter.com/Nq2Dfckoy1
— Sammy Paul (@ICOEPR) December 16, 2015
Yes, Dodie Clark and Sammy Paul both look really cute here. BUT, if you click on the bottom right image, you’ll see the guy who created the Star Wars universe: George Lucas. You win Sammy, you win.
It seems like literally everyone was there.

— mooken (@mookentooken) December 16, 2015
These two managed Dan and Phil’s merch stand at Summer in the City! Our stand was, like, two down from them!
…except for us. And Neafcy.
Spending most of today abusing friends who get to see #StarWars in advance. THE SHOWBIZZY BASTARDS
— NEAFCY (@PNeafcy) December 15, 2015
To be honest we’re surprised Paul Neafcy wasn’t invited.
And then everyone had a lot of feelings.
SOBBING. GO SEE IT. #StarWarsForceAwakens
— do(die) (@doddleoddle) December 16, 2015
#TheForceAwakens made me cry:
– When [character] finds [thing]– When [action] happens to [character]– When [character] is [description]
— Sammy Paul (@ICOEPR) December 17, 2015
Star Wars… Oh my god. Shaking with joy.
— Mad Horror-graves 🎃 (@MattLobster) December 16, 2015
WELL THAT WAS A VERY GOOD STAR WAR INDEED
— Hex Croucher ✨💀 (@lexcanroar) December 17, 2015
Ok #StarWarsForceAwakens is everything a fan boy could want. Go laugh, cry and fall in love with a galaxy far far away (all over again.)
— Niki ALL-BONES 💀🎃 (@NikiAlbon) December 16, 2015
Star Wars The Force Awakens is perfect. #InJJWeTrust
— Slayzel Slays (@TheHazelHayes) December 15, 2015
Okay, we get it. It’s good.
Bringing us back to reality, however…
Shame about the Jar Jar cameo tho… #TheForceAwakens
— TombScare (@thetomska) December 16, 2015
however admiral ackbar does NOT at any point say "it's a trap", therefore regrettably, I'm going to have to give this film a 1/10.
— killthePJ (@kickthepj) December 17, 2015
PJ and Tom Ridgewell bring us back down with a bump. It may be Star Wars, but it’s important to reflect and think critically in these moments. Everyone loved Phantom Menace when it came out, but these days it’s slated. Try not to get so Jar Jar Bink’ing hyped over this.
Now it’s time for us lot to avoid spoilers…

Looks like Doug Armstrong has discovered different keyboard characters.
And the puns Strike Back!
You can't force me to like star wars
— Evan DEADinger (@EvanEdinger) December 16, 2015
One out of ten. This is lazy for you, Evan Edinger.
Don’t like Star Wars?
We feel for you. You’re not missing much though… only Captain Kirk on the Millennium TARDIS saving District 12 from Death Eaters and White Walkers. Maybe you’ll be more interested in these articles:
