Oscar’s Hotel for Fantastical Creatures has set a single day sales record for Vimeo’s new pay-per-view platform, according to Company CEO, Kerry Trainor.
Trainor shared the news while in conversation with StreamDaily‘s Darah Hansen at New York’s StreamCon 2015. The series, which was created by PJ Liguori, has also net its creative team a sizeable amount of revenue since its launch this past September.

Vimeo On Demand stands in direct competition with YouTube Red. However, unlike YouTube, it offers full price controls for creators – as opposed to a set monthly fee – with the platform taking a fixed 10% of profits. As of November 2015, Vimeo On Demand now has over 650,000 paying subscribers.
Films created by, and starring, YouTubers have already proved to be very successful on the Platform, with US vlogger Sawyer Hartman also producing a series through it. As Trainor explained:
“We’re going to be investing a lot more in those creators and bringing them a lot more to Vimeo and Vimeo On Demand, and showing the value of charging for their work.”
Those wishing to rent Oscar’s Hotel through Vimeo On Demand can do so for £1.99 per episode.
