Tom Ridgewell will be touring across the UK to celebrate the release of Art is Dead: the asdf book.
Tom will be visiting cities across England and Scotland, including his hometown of Cambridge. In a video posted to his second channel, he said: “Really looking forward to visiting my hometown of Cambridge, because take that all the teachers who told me that I couldn’t get anywhere making stupid jokes.”
Matt Ley, illustrator of Art is Dead, will be joining Tom at the Cambridge event, as well as the one in Lincoln, the latter of which will be taking place at Tom’s old university.
“The ‘inspiration’ for Art Is Dead came from a cigar-smoking executive who insisted the world needs more YouTubers books,” Tom tells TenEighty. “I’m still not sure I know what I’m talking about yet so I figured rebooting my old comic series from 2006 was a safe bet!”
But what sets Art Is Dead apart from all the other YouTuber book? “It’s not in any way inspirational,” says Tom. “If anything you’ll feel worse after reading it. Don’t buy it. Run. RUN.”
Waterstones will be hosting the book tour and have included numerous rules for it on their website, reiterating that “there will be no opportunity to view Tom ‘TomSka’ Ridgewell for non-ticket holders”.
“Apparently, Waterstones is some kind of ‘business’ and they would like their ‘shop back’ eventually,” said Tom in the video.
