Here we go, it’s here! It’s Saturday at the biggest YouTube convention in Europe…
Yeah we know it starts on a Friday, but who cares about Creator Day? (if you do, click here for our photo recap of that day). This is when Summer in the City 2015 really kicked off and we’ve got all the pictures you need to relive the spectacle.
More than anything we felt sorry for the security at this event. They had no idea at this moment how mental everything was going to get. Move out of the way burly men, before the sea of screaming fangirls knock you over!
Kicking things off in the Panel Rooms were none other than Charlie McDonnell and Jimmy Hill with their Cereal Time panel.
But the day has only just started boys, you can’t run out of ideas already! We went along to this panel and wrote a little report on it which you can read here, alternatively why not check out more pictures here.
To be honest we think it’s all gone too far. While we love Niki and Sammy Albon, and Evan Edinger, everyone should stop encouraging them to make puns. No, seriously. This was the Pun Panel at Summer in the City, and that is just too much for us to comprehend.
Well, Evan clearly found that pun funny… whatever it was. Check out more pictures from this panel here.
You saw a lot of this at Summer in the City. In the Creator Village a host of sponsors set up shop, and there’s no better sponsor than YouTube themselves.
The Music on YouTube panel featured Hannah Trigwell, Meghan Tonjes, Joel Berghult, Mark Douglas, MikeyBolts and Kier from Fearless Vampire Killers…
We like to think Mikey is going ‘oooohhhh’ here because something controversial was said. At one point an audience member asked if the panellists considered themselves YouTubers or musicians, and Meghan’s response was pretty interesting. Find out more about this panel here.
Over in Panel Room B this lot were discussing how best to deal with trolls. It featured Cherry Wallis, Tom Ridgewell, Ellen Rose, Gary C, Lewis Parker and Scola Dondo and was chaired by Paul Neafcy.
On the panel Tom revealed that he once leaked his own details online and this lead to a heavy discussion about harassment online. Find out more by reading our report here, or check out more pictures here.
Elsewhere YouTubers were sitting down to play in a Super Smash Bros. tournament. Luke Cutforth commentated the whole thing as internet stars battled it out to win supreme bragging rights. Check out more pictures here.
Not content to just commentate, Luke also chaired this panel which tackled one of the biggest debates in the YouTube community, the Creator / Viewer Divide. It featured Mamrie Hart, Dodie Clark, Charlie McDonnell and Jamie Jo. Find out what happened here, or check out more pictures here.
Giving valuable perspectives on the gaming community, this was the Women Who Game panel. Lizzie AKA LDShadowLady was already implementing the tactical Costa Coffee. Gotta keep those energy levels up! Check out our report on this panel here, or for more pictures click here.
Ethnicity & Diversity is a really important issue within the YouTube community that is rarely addressed, so we applaud the SitC organisers for putting this panel on. However, we’d just like to point out how cool Ann Hoang‘s hat is, please tell us where you bought it. Check out the full report of this panel here.
Our exclusive cover star Emma Blackery came over the TenEighty stand to sign copies of the magazine for us. You can buy the magazine from Fireflight Merch here.
The LGBTQ+ panel was back for a second year and this time around was given a bigger room. It featured Riyadh Khalaf, Laci Green, Calum McSwiggan, Alex Bertie, Savannah Brown and Joseph Harwood. It was chaired by Jazza John. Read all about this panel here.
We don’t know if you noticed, but we often find ourselves asking the YouTubers we interview how they balance being content creators with their personal lives. Well guess what? This panel was completely dedicated to that question. The YouTube Alongside Work and School panel featured Jonti ‘Weebl’ Picking, Daniel J Layton, Jenny Bingham and Bethan Leadley. It was chaired by Chris Foxx. Read all about it here.
Who knew Myles Wheeler had a band? We didn’t, and we’re lucky our photographer was around to catch this picture!
Alex Bertie and Jake Edwards were kind enough to come along and sign copies of TenEighty at our stand. And don’t they both look so adorable. #relationshipgoals. Our interview with Alex is in the magazine, so if you’re interested in picking up a copy, click here. Or for more pictures of the pair check out these.
Dan Howell and Phil Lester are in the building people! The duo appeared on the Creative Process panel alongside Benjamin Cook, Arden Rose, Jamie Jo, MikeyBolts and Josh Leyva. It was chaired by Jamie Paul. We did a write up of this one too. For more pictures click here.
The beauty vloggers were out on force at the Fashion and Beauty panel. It featured Joseph Harwood, Emily-Victoria Canham, Alexa Losely, Melanie Murphy and Rhiannon Ashlee. It was chaired by Patricia Bright. Wanna know what happened? Check out our report on this panel.
Gracing us with her presence at the TenEighty stand was Bethan Mary Leadley. Here she is signing copies of TenEighty magazine and taking photos with fans. Guess what? Her interview is in the magazine too, so you should deffo pick one up! Check out more pictures of this.
We are so sorry about the quality of this picture. This was the Comedy Panel, and what we reckon happened here was that our photographer was laughing so hard at the jokes he couldn’t hold himself steady enough to take one in focus. The panel featured Mamrie Hart, Tom Ridgewell, Grace and Amelia Mandeville, Jonti ‘Weebl’ Picking, Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs. It was chaired by Jimmy Hill. You can read all about it here.
What happens if you’re YouTube famous and you’re also in a relationship? This panel attempted to address that question. Chaired by Hannah Witton, it featured our fav online couples: Bry and Candice, Vinny and Luke, and Tom Burns and Jamie Jo. Find out what went down here.
Pop Bobbleheads! Lots and lots of them! As many as you could possibly imagine. Except YouTubers that is. Yep, we think this guy is missing a trick. We want Dan and Phil bobbleheads, and we want them now!
Speaking of Dan and Phil, they got this shiny award from the Albon twins. The silver play-button is reserved for those who get 100 thousands subscribers on their YouTube channel, and the duo had finally reached this landmark on their gaming channel. Congrats!
LOOK AT ALL THE YOUTUBERS! ON ONE STAGE! WITH CONFETTI FLYING EVERYWHERE! SitC selfie>Oscars selfie. No contest. More pictures of this are available on Tumblr.
Dodie Clark performed on the main stage and had Daniel Dobbs accompanying her. It’s been really heartwarming to see how far Dodie has come, and this set has certainly cemented her place in TenEighty’s big beating heart.
…Jack Howard, Bertie Gilbert, Hannah Witton, Sammy Paul… ahhhh there’s too many! Dodie sure does have a lot of YouTube friends and fans. Check out more pictures from this set here.
Look at him! Bry was back again, breaking hearts and making us swoon…
…qwarhhhhh! We have more pictures of this set over on Tumblr.
And now for something completely different (and much heavier). Mazzi Maz brought his band Myth City to Summer in the City and rocked the ExCel Centre to its core…
…Either Mazzi is screaming his lungs out or holding a very delicate high-pitched note here. Either way, he looks epic doing it. Check out more pictures from Myth City’s set here.
Headlining Summer in the City were funny-men Jack and Dean. The duo really have come far in the past year, and we’re so, so proud of all they’ve achieved. That said, we’re still waiting for them to invite us along to Radio 1.
Tragedy strikes! Unfortunately Saturday ended with the death of an imaginary cat. We’re not sure if we can forgive Dean for his dodgy driving. Surely killing any cat – imaginary or real – is a curse against the very lifeblood of YouTube. One day we may be able to look past this Dean, but you’re going to spend a lot of your remaining life trying to make up for this moment. You can check out more pictures of this set here.
