The site’s latest feature will allow musicians to garner their popularity worldwide through the use of several new tools.
YouTube has launched Music Insights, the latest addition to the site’s YouTube For Artists program. Through the new feature, musicians will be able to discover their popularity worldwide by showing them where their videos are most viewed and which songs are the most popular. It will also aggregate the views on both the musician’s own videos and those uploaded by fans, as recognised by YouTube’s Content ID feature, which will allow for a more accurate depiction of popularity.
YouTube hopes Music Insights will allow musicians to see the site as industry-friendly, with it highlighting that the statistics given will allow for them to book tours and other promotional events in areas where their music has been given the most exposure.
As of right now, Music Insights offers data for more than 10,000 of Google and YouTube’s most popular artists, with a plan to expand it’s reach as time goes on. Along with the launch of the new feature, YouTube has also made YouTube For Artists available in 22 languages. The program offers musicians the tools they need to best connect with fans, as well as promotional information to help them grow through the site. These include tips regarding fan engagement and earning money through the monetisation of videos.
