Quick, pop your sun glasses on because the glare coming off the people in the list below is intense!
And that, right there, was us trying to set up an eclipse joke but ending up sounding incredibly sarcastic about all the YouTubers we’ve rounded up this week. They’re actually really good and you should definitely watch their videos. We love them. How is this still sounding sarcastic?!
Save The Old People! – Mawaan Rizwan
Voting may seem like the most boring, pointless thing ever but if you don’t vote then you’ll be stuck looking after old people forever. OK, so maybe there’s a bit more to this issue than just than that.
As Mawaan Rizwan explains – with the help of some ridiculously cute ancient people – looking after the elderly is important and something we should all be thinking about (if all goes to plan then we’re going to end up as old people too – not traditional old people though, we’ll totally be the generation who can knit jumpers with llamas on and use three different social networks at once.)
Also, look out for some sick impressions from Norma of the middle class white men who currently rule UK politics. NORMA FOR PRIME MINISTER.
Fifty Shades of Green – ChewingSand
First it was films focusing on BDSM, now it’s Public Holidays – Hazel Hayes is becoming the master of colour interpretation.
With the best backing track ever, she takes us on a whistle-stop tour of everything green-ish ranging from Cee Lo Green to phlegm. Stay tuned for the TenEighty petition to put Hazel in charge of the Dulux catalogue executive committee. Her and the big fluffy dog on the adverts, it can totally work.
The Future – Tom Bristow
“The choices you make now do, in no way, matter as much as teachers make out… [or] define what your life is going to be like”
Tom Bristow takes roughly five minutes this week to offer us some pearls of wisdom about grades, university and the future.
Reflecting on his own experiences, Tom encourages those at the point in their lives where they have to make decisions about school subjects and college courses to think about what they enjoy, as opposed to just focusing on what they’re good at (sidenote: isn’t it great when those two things are the same though?!)
10 Years Time – PointlessBlog
Alfie Deyes has also been thinking about the future.
He whipped his moleskine notebook out and tried to write – NOTHING. He consulted Google and he got NOTHING. Eventually, after some hard-core soul searching he realised that he wasn’t ready to answer the question of where he wants to be in 10 years time.
Thankfully for us, moments later he does still give it a go and the results are pretty darn sweet. A decade into the future, Alfie would like: to have at least 16 children, a horse, fighter jet and fire engine, and to have left his vlogging career behind as he pursues his ultimate dream of being a pub landlord. Or something like that.
Some of the above statements may not be true – you’ll have to watch the video to find out which. Alfredo definitely has a point about not planning your future out too much. Embrace the unexpected, that’s what we say.
Office Tour – Helen Anderson
You know those videos you watch and just think “How? How to people live like this?!”. Yeah, that.
As she shows in a ‘before’ photo, Helen Anderson already had a pretty decent office. Like, just a pleasant room with bunting and a rug. Then she TRANSFORMED it.
*Cue cheesy daytime TV home makeover show music*
Now Helen’s office is beautiful. It is the kind of room that us mere mortals dream about but never actually see in real life. Full cupboard devoted to stationery. Living plants just casually scattered around. L-I-V-I-N-G. Where is the clutter? WHERE ARE THE DISCARDED POST-IT NOTES, SOAKED IN HUMAN TEARS?! She’s like the YouTube version of Carol Smilie (ask your parents.)
Aaaaaaanyway, moving on…
Conor Maynard is slowly becoming vlogger extraordinaire. This week he’s talking about all the comments on his music video, including a whole section in which he finds out just how many people had watched the video because of Caspar Lee. Awks.
We’ve also found some Jack Dean in drag. This video doesn’t actually need any more said about it. Just think: Jack Dean in drag. Go.
What do you want to change about the world? Tate Wolverson wants to change a hell of a lot. We’re not doubting him at all because it’s do-able, for sure, but he needs your help. At least to be the person who ticks off the list whenever he manages to change something (be wary, it’s a long list.)
Talk to us via carrier pigeon, smoke signals or social media – whichever you’d prefer – and tell us which videos we missed this week! Either drop us a Tweet to @TenEightyUK or hit us up on Facebook.
