After a short Christmas break the Weekly Round-up is back. Forget 2014, that’s in the past (quite literally), let’s get into 2015 with a vengeance!
Or if you’re not into vengeance then feel free to approach the coming 12 months with a demeanor of lukewarm optimism. I mean, do what you want, we don’t own you.
But what we do insist on is the watching of the following five videos which represent the best of British vlogging output from the last 7 days.
2014 – CandySomething
What better way to start 2015 than with a year in review from the newly married Candice from CandySomething. You can see her and Bribry’s wedding vows in the last roundup of 2014, it’s 100% adorkable!
She’s been on TV, started to upload to Instagram, studied, travelled, released music and performed live. We all have a wonderful year to look back on, and we like to listen to Candice reflect on hers as it shines on the rest of us.
But enough of nostalgia, New Year means resolutions! So…
MY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION! – Harry Pereira
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KU7FI5EQtFE
We all have our New Year’s resolutions, right? Get fit, eat less sugar, be nicer etc. Harry Pereira, our new favourite car-vlogger (we’re making it a new genre), thinks those are things we should be doing all the time. His resolution needs to be something that he wouldn’t have done anyway, which we guess makes sense.
We’re in love with Harry’s vlogs because they really go back to the medium’s roots. Finding a quiet place and chatting to the camera. Make sure you check out the rest of his #content! It’s a dream.
Why The Prime Meridian Isn’t At 0º – Tom Scott
We love a bit of science every now and again. And what better way to catch up with not paying attention in Physics class in secondary school than by binge watching YouTube videos? It’s way better, right?
Tom Scott has a lovely brain and gifts us with wisdom on all things science-y on his YouTube channel and here he tells us that the great institution, the Greenwich Meridian, is… um… wrong. Awkz.
If your New Year’s resolution is to use your brain cells a little more, then make a start with Mr. Scott.
I Hate Exams! | Laura Bubble | Speakerbox – 4:01 Show
Laura Bubble has a fringe. And we needed to document that. That is the only reason we included this video in the line up.
JUST KIDDING! Laura has teamed up with the 4:01 Show to talk about the stress of exams and how to deal with it. She is our resident student, after all! Despite having graduated a couple of years ago now (we won’t tell anyone if you don’t, shh!).
We know a lot of you in student-land will have exams coming up, so we hope this gives you some encouragement. Good luck!
Brutality – Gentleman Thinker – Philosophy Tube
Educational channels in the UK are few and far between, so we were ecstatic to discover Philosophy Tube. What better way to start the year than with the stimulation of your brain cells with some deep and meaning videos about philosophy.
In this particular strand, Gentleman Thinker, we see philosophical constructs ‘explained in brief in a posh, English accent’. We all know everything becomes clearer when delivered in Queen’s English. This week’s is about brutality. Don’t know what that is? Well you’d better blooming watch it then, hadn’t you!
Want some extras to tide you over til next week?
Watch Tim Shieff, parkour master extraordinair, defend his decision to promote the Royal Marines (see our last Roundup here).
And finally does anyone remember Johnny Durham 19? The FiveAwesomeGuys? For a handful of you this will be a blast from the past as Mr. Durham has uploaded a video after a 5 year absence. Check it out here.
