Remember when Black Friday was just an American thing?
Well those days are behind us! We Brits are now just as hungry for a bargain on the last Friday of November as our cousins from across the Atlantic. Everyone get out my way! I need my Disney’s Frozen merchandise!
Another point where we’re similar to the Americans is our love of a British YouTuber or two (great segue, no?). And that’s exactly what we bring you here in our Weekly Round-Up.
We have the best bargains from the world of British YouTubers and a shockingly low price of free. And our special offer this week is five for the price of one! (OK, yes that’s the offer every week, but you didn’t need to draw attention to that, did you?)
Tandoori Lamb Chop Sent to Space | Nikesh Shukla
In our opinion this video hasn’t received nearly enough hits as it should. How many videos send a slab of meat into space? Watch as a lamb chop gets tied to an air balloon and launched into space. You even get to see the curvature of the Earth!
This is a promo for a new novel, ‘Meatspace’ (we see what you did there), but we particularly like this video because the lamb is sourced from one of our favourite London Indian restaurants: Tayyabs! Honestly they serve the best saag in east London.
What would you send into space given a chance? Let us know on Twitter!
YouTube Comment Reconstruction #10 | Dead Parrot
Dead Parrot have perfected the art YouTube comment dramatisations and they’ve outdone themselves this week with this particular edition. This episode invites us to a high-class dinner party, and the topic for discussion amongst our wise and mature guests is One Direction and Nicki Minaj.
Hilarity ensues! Wonderful comedic acting, amazing camera work and seamless transitions. This is yet another classic from the Dead Parrot team.
The Shark Conservationist | Jack and Finn Harries
We’re loving the documentaries being put together by the Jack and Finn Harries in partnership with Skype. They’re slick, professional and they makes us prouder than our grandparents were at our Year 6 nativity play.
Whether or not we approve of Jack’s new hippie trousers, headband and facial hair… well, we’ll have to get back to you. But these days we don’t get to see Jack or Finn together nearly as often as we’d like to, so we’re just happy to have that.
This is the second short film in the Following Heart series which sees Jack and Finn document the lives of three different people with extraordinary lifestyles. In the film we meet Jillian Morris to learn about sharks and their conservation, while in the glorious backdrop of the sunny Bahamas. Honestly, it just makes us want to go there. Can we come with you next time? We’ll behave ourselves, promise.
Gravity Games | Damien Walters
Damien Walters is somewhat of a phenomenon in the parkour and stunt scene. His videos pretty much always go viral, and it’s easy to see why. Hurling yourself off a building for whatever reason is pretty impressive, y’know, when you land correctly.
Wonderfully shot in a great location (Austria, if you must know) we’d like to challenge any of you to flip gracefully off a building onto a giant inflatable crash mat. …But, not actually. Don’t do that. Y’know, because you might hurt yourself. Be safe, kids!
Blank Space | Francesca Georgiou
We love a good introspective video here at TenEighty. We simply love to sit down with a piping hot camomile tea and muse about the world with the guidance of our fave Tuber.
Francesca Georgiou gives us a lovely introspective into feeling stuck in a rut. We find these sort of videos remind us of how human we all actually are, and we admire Francesca for opening up on this topic. Nonetheless, we also want to remind she has a lot to be proud of. After all, she did put together the ‘We Are Here For You’ campaign for victims of sexual abuse.
Side note: we also think she’s channeling a bit of Jack Howard here. Thoughts?
November might be over but we hear you like MOREvember….
(Oh shush, puns are hard) Here are some MORE videos! We told you that Bite News were working with ITV and a series of YouTubers to grill the leaders of the political parties in the UK. The Green Party were up first last week and there were a fair few TenEighty contributors in the audience, see if you can spot them all here.
Finally, here’s a little musical number from the lovely Matt Hutchinson, known as OrtoPilot to us ‘Tubers, a cover of Ho Hey by the Lumineers. Yet another YouTuber who doesn’t post nearly as often as we’d like. He’s also not bad on the eye either. What a lovely chap.
That’s a wrap for this week and for November. Can you believe we’re at December already? Does that mean next week’s videos are all going to be Christmas-themed? It probably does. Well, if you see any gems don’t forget to let us know by tweeting us on Twitter @TenEightyUK and why not follow us while you’re there? You can also write to us on our TenEighty UK Facebook wall. It’s never been easier to tell us all about your favourite British YouTubers!
