It finally feels like Autumn is in full swing but we officially hate this time of year…
You can’t get away with wearing those oh-so-short shorts that you got from Primark a couple of weeks ago without getting goosebumps, but it’s not quite cold enough for scarves either. A horrible limbo of putting on your jumper only to take it off again five minutes later.
But lucky for us YouTube is in no state of limbo (Yes, we’re aware that was a tenuous segue way at best), and your favourite bloggers have been churning out hits like ice-cream sales at the height of summer. So without further ado here is our round up of the best from the UK of the past week.
Jimmy0010 – YOUTUBE LOVECHILD
We’re fans of shipping at TenEighty; Tom Burns and Liam Dryden anyone? But very rarely do we get to see what our OTP’s lovechild would look like, it’s generally kept to Tumblr posts and deviantART pages (do people still use deviantART?).
Well now the wonderful James Hill has come along and made a handful of your dream YouTube pairings real! Well, as long as all your OTPs involve him.
Particular favourites in this video are Jimmy + Gary C, Jimmy + Zoe Sugg and Jimmy + an Orange. Who would you pair Mr. 0010 with?
PewDiePie – A Troll Never Dies…
Felix Kjellberg famously turned off comments on all his videos last month so as to stop his videos being spammed with self promotion, and because of what he saw as a lack of engagement. But spare a thought for all of those trolls who no longer have the chance to ask people to subscribe to them in the comments of his videos! How are they going to spend their time now?
Well one of these poor, neglected trolls has reached out to Pewdiepie and written him a song which Felix was kind enough to perform. It really is a thing of beauty, and shows us the other side of the story. The story of a troll with no one to spam. *single tear rolls down our cheek*
Jameboyy – Get The Look: TROYE SIVAN – HAPPY LITTLE PILL
Male fashion vloggers are few and far between, so we get really excited when we find a handsome one with a nice quiff who knows his high street stores. Enter Jameboyy (with two ‘y’s) who has a modest following but a deep knowledge of styling that we think will take him far.
In this video he talks us through how to get the style of Troye Sivan in his Happy Little Pill video and, let’s be honest, we’ve all wanted to know where we can get our hands on one of those block, monochrome jumpers.
Enjoy these styling tips and make sure you check out the rest of Jameboyy’s videos where he posts music covers and vlogs. Let us know what you think on twitter!
Ant (MrHeavyHand) – Perspective
Forget all the flash effects and background ukulele music, vlogging at its core is sitting down in front of a camera with an anecdote and a life lesson. Ant Lightfoot (aka MrHeavyHand) stays true to the roots of the humble vlogger by giving us a story of his gargantuan bruise (we hope it’s finally getting better!) and stimulating our brain cells by tying the whole video into a discussion about perspective.
Ant is a perfect example of anyone being able to blog as long as you have something to say. So get yourself a camera and stimulate some minds yourself!
We also think he’s really pretty so, you know, watch him for that too .
Hazel Hayes – How to Act Like a Harry Potter Wizard
Some of you may have noticed the School of YouTube videos that have been floating around your subscription feed for the past week or so. This has been a push by YouTube in conjunction with the UK charity Comic Relief to raise money for children around the world who don’t have easy access to education.
Hazel Hayes‘s offering is by far our favourite, recruiting the help of Warwick Davis (aka Professor Flitwick) to teach her how to act like a wizard (/witch) from the Harry Potter franchise. We even get a cameo from the lovely Louise Pentland and see the two ladies duel in the Hogwarts Great Hall with real life wands!
Hazel’s was just one of many and we urge you to check out other offerings from your favourite UK YouTubers. You can find the full playlist on the YouTube Spotlight channel here.
Good gracious child! I think you’re missing a large portion of YouTube videos in your diet! You must consume more! More media, I say!
Fancy a bit more Harry Potter in your inbox this week? Then check out Rosianna Rojas‘s video where she talks about dressing up as a Harry Potter character every year at school. It’s all part of a campaign fronted by former TenEighty cover star Lindsay Atkins, who is working with Save the Children to get more kids reading.
If two charities isn’t enough for you then find out about Rosie Spaughton‘s experience with alopecia, a disorder where your hair and nails can fall out. She is also raising awareness and money through her Just Giving page.
And finally, any of you who are still feeling a little anxiety about going back to school, then maybe you can let off some steam with Jamie Cottrell. If school, or just getting up before 10am just isn’t your thing, then you’ll appreciate this rant from the Father of Fries. His language is… shall we describe it as colourful? So don’t say we haven’t warned you!
