Well hello there – and what a week it has been, pretty darn action packed. The TenEighty website temporarily crashed when Charlie McDonnell Tweeted our article with ‘mummy of YouTube’ Lindsay Atkins. Which was, you know, great – but bitter-sweet. It must be exciting for Charlie to know that he can bring down a fledgling news website with the click of a button. Oh, the power. THE POWER.
Anyway, let’s pack away our violins. We know what you’ve clicked for, here is the TenEighty Weekly Roundup!
RandomProdInc – Oreo Banana Bread
Oreos? Bananas? Bread?! TOGETHER!?!?!?! *dies*
Tom of RandomProdInc tells us how to make this wonderful mixture of stodgy carbohydrate and sweet, sweet sugar. It’s guaranteed to throw your summer diet plan out of the window and have you chortling along as Tom scatters Oreos over his kitchen and wins a dead man’s hat in Mario Kart.
The video also has some handy tips for ripening bananas and whisking without a whisk. Why not try out Tom’s recipe and let us know what you came up with? Tweet us your pictures.
Nick J Henderson – Colour Reviews! ORANGE
You know what, on TenEighty we don’t share enough surreal humour. It’s all jump cuts and sound effects these days, so it’s refreshing to hear Nick J Henderson‘s lyrical, Brummie tones describing the characteristics of the ‘colour between yellow and red on the spectrum’. Most of the video might just be an orange screen, but our favourite bit is him spelling out the whole URL for the wikipedia page for the colour orange.
Everything about this video is oldschool: the Comic Sans, the music, the editing. And we love it for that. Tell all your friends to join in the new colour review tag. Join the revolution! It’s only a matter of time before Malfie start doing them.
The RH Experience – 8 Things With Crabstickz
We’re big lovers and supporters of The RH Experience at TenEighty, especially as they are about to take their show to the Edinburgh Fringe this August to be, like, proper comedians and stuff. Their iconic 8 Things game has been played with many popular YouTubers, and this week the list was lengthened by a favourite of ours, Chris Kendall (Crabstickz). “Memories I don’t have” and “Different names for the colour beige” were particular 8 Things favourites of ours.
KSI – Goat Simulator
KSI is a bit of a god in the gaming community because of his hilarious pranks and his rubbery, expression-full face when he plays games. Goat Simulator has kind of taken the Internet by storm, some are calling it the new World of Warcraft (they aren’t).
It was only a matter of time before KSI was going to tackle the phenomenon. Our favourite bit is the Mr Fantastic style tongue on the goat being used as a deadly weapon. Have you used Goat Simulator yet? No? What are you doing – stop reading this – GO AND PLAY GOAT SIMULATOR.
Emma Blackery – SHAVING MY HEAD
Emma Blackery brings us the stand-out video of the week with a formal announcement that, if she can raise £5000 then she will shave of her hair. Live. At Summer in the City.
Emma is famous for her varying hairstyles, ranging across the entire colour spectrum in the last few years (although our favourite colour is Orange, as you know) and she’s giving all that up for five charities that she is raising money for: Great Ormond Street, Macmillan Cancer Support, Save the Children, Teenage Cancer Trust and St Luke’s Hospice.
We hope you pledge anything you can for this great cause and appreciate the sacrifice Emma is offering up. She also promised that she wouldn’t be dying her hair after it is shaved, so with a heavy heart, we say goodbye to those iconic locks!
I Can Haz More?
Yes of course you can you scrumptious little lol-cats. This week Marcus Butler channelled his inner Dr. Dolittle by saving various woodland animals AND getting naked… but only as a baby.
JaackMaate hit the red carpet of The Hooligan Factory and had some banter with the stars and writers.
Finally, if you are looking for something a little more poignant and intellectually stimulating – check out the response to justkissmyfrog from Ant (MrHeavyHead) where he reflects on his feminist tendencies.
That should keep you distracted from work for a good few hours. Now be gone!
