The signing is the latest in Spotify’s bid to migrate larger names to the platform.
News of the exclusive deal was first revealed by the Wall Street Journal on 17 June, with a source close to the situation revealing the details of the podcast.
According to the source, the podcast, which has yet to be named, will further push forward Kim Kardashian’s work in regards to wrongful convictions. It will also look to discuss criminal justice reform.
Television producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi will co-host and co-produce the podcast. Specifically, the podcast will focus on Ansaldi’s investigation of the Kevin Keith case. Keith is a man who, in 1994, was convicted in the murder of three individuals, despite denying he was the one to pull the trigger.
News of the podcast’s pending release follows the multi-year licensing deal Spotify signed with Joe Rogan in May, wherein the platform revealed it would become the primary home of The Joe Rogan Experience.
While details of the deal have not been released, Business Insider is reporting Spotify’s stocks surged 15% to an all-time high following the announcement and word that the streaming platform had also inked a podcast deal with DC Comics.
The podcast will be released under Spotify’s Paracast Network. As of publishing, there is no word of an official release date.
