Hosted through JustGiving, the fundraiser was raising money for Mermaids UK, a charity which seeks “to educate and inform wider society on gender identity by helping professionals accommodate and reassure gender-variant with young people”.
“Mermaids has evolved into one of the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ charities, empowering thousands of people with its secure online communities, local community groups, helpline services, web resources, events and residential weekends,” its website reads.
The fundraiser included a fan auction, with fan fiction and fan art commissions up for grabs, as well as merch shop gift cards that donors could win via a random draw.
