The emote has been removed from the platform “to prevent misuse”.
The Verge is reporting that Twitch has removed its TwitchCop emote, which shows a cartoon police officer blowing a whistle. The emote had previously been available for users to use in chats across all channels on the streaming platform.
In a statement to The Verge, a Twitch spokesperson said:
“We made the decision to proactively pull down the TwitchCop emote to prevent misuse. We are constantly evaluating our policies to ensure we are addressing emerging behaviors and language on our platform.”
While the spokesperson said it had been removed to prevent any potential abuse, they did not elaborate or offer any further details.
