Ready for some ink?
There’s something about many of us at TenEighty HQ that our readers might not know: we’re obsessed with tattoos! We don’t know what it is, but we love them! Not only do we love the artistry that we get to display on our bodies, but also the possibilities. Our bodies are blank canvasses, so we might as well cover them in tons of unique art! While some might be turned off because of the pain of getting one, we’re the exact opposite! We don’t know how to describe it, other than it’s something you get addicted to, and the following YouTubers understand exactly what we mean.
Here are seven tattoo-centric channels you should be watching if you’re in need of your tattoo fix, especially during this time of quarantine and lockdown.
Helen Anderson
We obviously had to kick off our list with a TenEighty favourite: Helen Anderson! Helen has been one of our go-to channels for years now, with her unique style and no-holds bar personality, and we knew we couldn’t write up this article without including her, what with her various tattoos! (Which we are obsessed with!)
While Helen’s channel might not necessarily be tattoo-centric, it does feature numerous videos about them. From vlogs showing her getting new ink, to care routines and much more, we love getting to see all the new pieces Helen gets! Tattoos not your thing? Don’t worry! Helen has tons of lifestyle and fashion videos for those of you looking for something different.
Holly Astral
Who better to watch than a tattoo artist themselves, especially when you’re looking for first-hand knowledge and experience. That’s why we love Holly Astral‘s channel! This UK-based artist is here to dish out all that needs to be known about the tattoo world, and we find ourselves learning something new with each video we watch!
We love getting to learn more about the tattoo industry, from the ins-and-outs for having a tattoo drawn up to the different types of tattoos out there – trust us, there’s more than you think! What’s more, she’ll sometimes upload videos of herself tattooing, which is not only interesting to watch, but super cool, as we get to see the beginning to end process of actually getting a piece of art on one’s body.
treacle tatts
If there’s someone we’re jealous of when it comes to their tattoos, it’s Lauren Petrie. Over the years of watching her channel, she’s gotten more and more pieces, each as stunning as the previous, and we wish we had them on our own skin! (But not in a creepy way.)
Throughout Lauren’s channel, you’ll find a host of different videos, with everything from reaction videos, to discussing her tattoos and teaching viewers about tattoo etiquette. She also offers advice on how to take care of a recently done tattoo, which is especially useful for those who are new to the tattoo game. We love her unfiltered, blunt and honest take on the tattoo world, and we hope she never stops speaking her truth or getting tattooed!
Inked
Any tattoo fan is aware of Inked Magazine‘s YouTube channel. It features some of the world’s most well-known and talented tattoo artists discussing the industry, their work and their experiences with clients. We love getting to hear the first-hand knowledge and insight these artists have to offer, and we’re not going to lie, we fangirl whenever we see some of our fave Ink Master contestants.
If reaction videos are more your thing, then Ink delivers. The channel features numerous videos of the artists reacting to some pretty crazy (and unfortunate) tattoos, as well as some well-known online creators doing the reacting, such as KSI and Kurtis Conner.
Barbara Crane
We don’t know about you, but there’s something so aesthetically pleasing about black and grey tattoos. They just look so clean and fresh, and we love the amount of detail that can be packed in with just one colour. We’re always envious when we come across a person – vlogger or not – who is decked out with black and grey tattoos, which is why we’re completely obsessed with Barbara Crane‘s channel.
If you’re looking for a vlogger who covers a wide array of topics on their channel, Barbara’s got you covered. Not only does she discuss tattoos, but she also uploads videos about body modification, Day in the Life vlogs and content surrounding her life as an art student. If that doesn’t scream perfect channel, we don’t know what does!
Monami Frost
Those looking to watch someone who’s not just a tattoo enthusiast, but also family-oriented need look no further than Monami Frost, who documents her day-to-day life on her YouTube channel. If you think you’ve seen someone who’s decked out in tats, just wait until you see all the ones Monami has!
What we love most about Monami’s channel is how open and honest she is with viewers. She lets them in to all aspects of her life, including her pregnancy and experiences with mental health, and everything in between! As well, we have to give some appreciation to her tattoos! We are totally obsessed with them! You can tell how amazing the artistry is, and we can’t get enough of seeing them.
iShine ink
Shine Joseph Oxarart-Davis is an artist who has been working for six years in the industry and has been showcasing his work and what it’s like to work in a shop. We love his weekly vlog format, and we feel we’re watching an old-school vlogger from the good old days of YouTube.
There are so many tattoos showcased on Shine’s channel that we’re having a difficult time picking our favourites. There’s the owl chest piece, which is absolutely gorgeous, or the piece he did with roses inside of a beehive. Honestly, his channel is one of endless tattoo-inspo, and we find ourselves itching to book our next appointment after each video!
We’re ready to get some new ink!
So there you have it, just seven tattoo-centric creators you absolutely need to be watching. We’re avid tattoo enthusiasts, so getting to showcase some of our fave creators in the genre is pretty exciting! Also, we’re totally not sorry if watching them leaves you wanting to get inked – that was the intention!
