The virtual YouTube convention is set to feature anime, music, cosplay and gaming.
Wendy Ayche – better known online as Wengie – is set to host the virtual event, which will stream on her music channel on 27 May at 9pm EST.
The convention will feature a host of musicians, spanning from K-pop to J-pop artists, as well as an amateur cosplay competition and discussions about mental health.
Speaking to Forbes, Wendy said:
“I’m thrilled to host this event that has never been done before at a time when the world needs laughter and hope. We’ve assembled some great talent who appreciates anime, cosplay, and gaming. For those who love dance music and A-pop as much as I do, we have some special performances planned that you’ve never seen before. More importantly, we will talk about a topic that is close to me which is mental health. I really hope the fans of all these genres will come together to have a fun time and be inspired.”
She will be joined by Michelle Phan, Ryan Higa, Zachary Hsieh and mxmtoon for the mental health portion of the convention, and the musical acts set to perform include A.C.E. and The Band Six. Wendy herself is set to take the stage as well.
There is also be a fundraising component to the stream, with money being raised for the World Health Organization‘s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
FutureCon is being sponsored by YouTube Music, and is taking place during Mental Health Awareness Month and Asian Pacific American History Month.
More information about the convention can be found via its official website.
